Linus didn’t hire a company, he founded his own media group and served as its CEO up until recently. It took about 10 years for him to fine tune everything so that he could finally let go of his management job and focus on content creation purely. You can’t just hire a bunch of strangers to manage your main source of income, this has to be someone you can trust.

I do understand perfectly your situation Jordi. My channel is the biggest one in Spanish about photo and video. And my online school as well. I started taking it seriously in 2015 with the goal of doing just what I loved to do. And without knowing it I created a little monster with now 20 employees. but in the road I understood my mission was to create this and help hundreds of thousands of people to become professional photographers and videographers. Yes, I stopped doing the creative work, but I understood that it was because I was approaching the school with the same mentality that I had when I started. I created a creature, a child (virtual one), and I made it completely dependent on me. So I was an employee, a non stop worker, because the creature grew and grew. And then with the help of some business people that I met and I hired, i understood that I had no idea what a business actually was. I was just an entrepreneur with people that assisted me. And that is a completely different picture. I was necessary for almost every step of the machine, and an owner of a true business has just one goal: to become completely unnecessary for the machine. you can quit and do another thing, that is understandable. But if you do it because you got burned, you will regret it. Because you built something amazing, something beautiful that helps millions of people. That is something that ia needed and is good for the world. You don't need to kill it. You just have to find the right person to teach you how to transition your channel into an actual company, with all the systems, processes and automations so that it works almost independently from you. That way you just invest your energy in whatever you are the best at and you really enjoy. i highly highly recommend the book Work the system, by Sam Carpenter. i write these words from my heart, because believe me, I understand you 100% (I actually run two big separate channels about completely different topics). I hope this message gives you some energy to search in that direction. Big hug from Spain and thank you for your amazing work Jordi 💪🏻🙏🏼 If you need something else, just reach me through email, my team will redirect the message w w w rbgescuela c o m Big hug

That is a lovely reply! I can honestly say, you've been a big help to me. I found you on Skillshare for your After Effects course a few years back and have been following since. I run my own business in an industry where everyone says "man you're lucky you get to work in that and I'd love to do that" but they don't realize the burden it is to run a business, support a family, friends, employees and maintain the joy you have for that work. It is extremely draining (ironically this led me to KZbin to change things up). But it is tough. You're never off-work, trying to please, and people (although very nice) are always pulling at you to do this, what's a tip for this etc... It's very challenging and I'm glad to hear you figured it out and are getting away and back to what makes you happy. Because at the end of the day, you can have financial successes and all that stuff and it's great, but we get one chance at this life and it will be about the experience and feels you have with the people you want to share them with. Stay creative and I'd love to see what you create when/if you ever create it because it'll probably be some of your best work (of some already great work).

As I mentioned in my last video: It felt increasingly like an obligation. Good for you to start doing what really gives you energy. I’ve had zero moments of regret so far, I hope you will feel the same. This year I went on a holiday without a camera, I enjoyed it like never before. I didn’t have the feeling that I needed to make new content or whatever. You’ll understand soon.. 😉 Anyway, I wanted to say that it was an honor to work with you and your team a few times. I've never commented on youtube videos before, but i just came on to say thank you very much. Your videos helped me get better as a beginner videographer and starting out my creative journey. Whenever I had an idea that I couldn't make into reality, I always to the channel to seek your help. So thank you very very much!!🎉🎉 As much as you've helped me through my creative journey, I and hopefully the rest of the community will support you through yours. Cheers

This was a surprise, but I am very glad about your decision, Jordy. I have been here since the start when you had "just" a few thousand subscribers. I was in my teens, and I was a loner who found a love for filmmaking. And you are a BIG part of that. You have shared so much value and knowledge throughout the years and I have improved. Even my English has become a lot better. I look at older videos, and my comments there, and I see how young I was. Your channel has been so important to me, every Friday, I was looking forward to what you would share next. And it was fun to see you grow, and hire Yannick, and later Lorenzo etc. This community has been so great. As you might have noticed (or maybe not) I stopped commenting as frequently and following your channel. The reason was that I moved away had to focus on other stuff, and took a break. I did notice last year that the content was not that interesting to me, as you said, I loved it when you shared your knowledge with us, But I am not that interested in recreating effects now so I kind of stopped watching. I still watch the ones I find interesting, and I loved your series like Cinebattle and all the other series. Especially "Creative Thuesday". The decision to move away and pursue the things you want is super important. I am so happy for you. Hope you will share your work on Instagram or Facebook (or even KZbin) so I can continue to be a part of it. Again, you have no idea how much you have helped me on my filmmaking journey, and how much I have grown from your help. And I have always felt you are my friend, thru the screen. I can not express my gratitude enough. Highlights from Cinecom, have to be 50K subscribers, 100K, and even the 1 Million that you decided to give to the School, that was so nice. And countless tutorials. It was fun to get our names and comments on your wall. What will happen to the studio now? Will you keep it? I feel like I am forgetting to mention so much in this comment and I might be repeating myself here, but good luck with the next step, and I hope to still follow your journey. Let me know if you are going to make more short films or even feature films, I would love to help out if you ever need people. I have made big steps toward my dreams too this year, I am becoming a better storyteller, screenwriter, and filmmaker, and I am making slowly but surely, the stuff I want to create, which is short and narrative work. :-) Super grateful for everything Cinecom
