That background noise - where did you get it? It was soooo irritating. Don't ever use it again! It went a long way to destroying what is arguably one of the best, smoothest, informative and thorough reviews on a camera I've ever seen. You are a very slick and believable presenter. As I waver between a P4P and an Inspire 2 X5S to step up from a P3P, if any one review could make up my mind, this one certainly did. Thank you!

wow, I'm impressed with the comparison. the Inspire 2 did very well compared to the ARRI Alexa. I've been considering upgrading to the Inspire 2 but worry about all the other issues that people have with it. Have you had any issues with the Inspire 2 since this review?

great video.I've been patiently waiting for something this deep. Couple of big questions remain. What's the rolling shutter like? I remember the inspire 1 x5 and x5r had issues. Also, whats the low light like? I've also seen snippets mentioning a handheld mount for the camera and would be keen to see that in action. DJI have spent a lot of energy touting the inspire 2 as a cinema system but in the Ryan Phillipe short they used the full drone for handheld and it didnt sell me on the notion. With the processing and storage in the main body there is going to be a lot more hardware in the handheld unit than the OSMO which is going to increase the cost by a fair amount but i'm just hoping they keep the cost reasonable because this could be an amazing all in one system. Lastly, the music levels were a little. Apart from that amazing video. i love that you guys are upping your video game lately.

Thank you for this excellent review. Well done Sebastian Wöber! I'd say the image quality of the new camera's footage at 10:12 outperforms the footage of the Arri Alexa at 9:56 in sharpness. At first I thought the focus on the Arri footage didn't sit right.

About the tracking situation when it stays in AUTO exposure - try next time to start recording in manual mode and change to tracking mode while it's recording. LMK if that helps.

Thank you very much for this review. Just what I needed to pull the trigger. I have the Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K and I'm convinced the Inspire 2 with the wide angle 5K shooting ProRes 4444 color space will match easier in post. The comparison and performance with Arri Alexa is impressive

Hi Seb I have been following you for a couple years since your other videos. Nice to see your thorough review and opinion on the Inspire 2. Although I watched your videos a long time ago on cinematic aerial video I ended up going into fpv racing and freestyle instead lol. I wasted so much money doing that lol. Now Im ready to redirect my efforts into aerial video which was my first choice from the beginning but I got distracted with fpv racing. I'm considering the PH4 Pro, Inspire 1 X5R, and inspire 2 X5S. I already do camera work for a company but not aerial footage. So hopefully my love for drones and film production will merge when I get one of these aerial platforms that I have mentioned. Looking forward to what you will be releasing next!

Amazing review. I'm looking to get into Pro drone shooting here soon and looking to make my first purchase on a drone and want it to be the right one. What do you guys, who are actually in the field, recommend? 1) P4Pro + 2) Used Inspire 1. I've been seeing packages with X3 and extra batteries/remote go for $2000 USD near me. I've seen packages with X5 camera, extra remote and 6 batteries go for $2900 USD. 3) Inspire 2 either with X4S or X5S. Basically, go big or go home.

So what would I look for in terms of sensor quality? Because the Super 35 pixels will be smaller, does that mean they can't record as much detail and quality as a full frame? How would you know if a ASP-C sensor has better pixels than a full frame? Or vis versa? Thanks! Also, would a Super 35 sensor be good enough for a Hollywood film showed in a theatre? How would I figure out if the pixel quality is superior to a full frame?

Ugh i would die for an inspire 2. Its also insane how good that camera is but not to mention cheap! A red weapon is tens of thousands of dollars, and I dont know about the arri but im assuming its about the same. For 10k your getting similar camera performance and a top of the line drone! DJI is truely an amazing company...

Ok, the drone is great, but don't exaggerate, the X5S is nowhere fucking near the camera quality of the Red weapon, there's a reason it's thousands of dollars.

It only looks that way on KZbin because of compression. Compare them on a color accurate 4k monitor and you'll notice the difference right away.

Its CRAZY to compare Red vs X5S, the point is you can cut them together rather than X5S being equal. Speaking from someone that has both.

Excellent review! Lots of great details about this system. However, since we are talking pro stuff here, the audio on this video is not so good. The looped violin music is repetitive and distracting because it not only sounds like it's looped, but it is way too loud in the mix. Really, you don't need music at all on a video like this. Just use it for intro and end credits. But wait there is more! The voice sounds dull and muffled. Adding treble and rolling off bass would fix that easily. Proper audio monitoring is needed to know what you're hearing, but this audio recording is indeed flawed. Otherwise, outstanding review!!!

Just wondering what the practical benefits of 5.2k are, obviously if you want to crop an image then the higher res will be better but does it look better when resized to 4k or 1080p? What is the difference in final image quality for instance when you downscale both 5.2k and 4k to 1080p, given that 4k scales to 1080p perfectly? Surely you'll almost never use the 5.2k at it's native res? Thanks for the vid.

Quick question, shooting CDNG allows you to shoot at 100 ISO so reducing grain but are we losing dynamic range in the highlights? Should we shoot at 400 ISO even when Recording CDNG, for full dynamic range?

excellent overview of the inspire 2/x5s/ProRes/Raw - Since we're comparing the Alexa et al., DJI, like others, should have worked out by now SSDs are the way to go for media - Black Magic knew it before anyone else then dropped the ball - proprietary media is far too expensive - red mags, sony sxs and axsm, BM cfast - media should not cost more than the cameras we use - kinefinity chose to use SSDs which makes its Terra 5/6k affordable - i'd like to see the inspire 2/x5s/5k used as it's intended with a 2 person team with at least ipads and maybe a field monitor or even an atomos inferno out of the hdmi of the rc (i never used a phone with the inspire 1 pro/x5) dji shows its lack of professionalism by using a USB reader for the raw cards - sony did the same with their raw reader for the F5/55 and it worried users sony had taken their eye off the ball - our tools are only as good as our ability to fit them into our workflow - and if you're taking 2hrs to offload a 512gb card - and only have 1 card - production screams to a halt - whenever reviewing drones and their abilities - it is increasingly important to talk safety, guidelines, and laws governing airspace - ask any 333 or part 107 pilot - the procedures, checklists, waivers and permits are important aspects of any flight, and/or production - what no one has talked about yet is what's the inspire 2 with the x5s like WITHOUT the raw/prores options - is 5k/4k h.264/5 worth the purchase - or is the upgrade from the inspire 1 raw only worth it if you pay the additional $5K for the unlock, and media? thank you again for your excellent review and beautiful footage !!! :)

Seb, did you have a chance to try out the 4k60fps mode? Can you tell if the camera is doing a full-sensor readout in this mode, or is there line skipping/pixel binning? I ask because on the Phantom 4 Pro, the 4k60p mode definitely is line skipping, producing a soft and aliased picture.

~60% of the issues raised were software based issues. As the Inspire 1 is still a recommended purchase, even now with the second revision released, it seems that the drone will appreciate even if adopted early. Interesting that you managed to get permission to fly inside a Cathedral within one day, as well around the city, they must know you. Two hours for offloading 500GB is ridiculous, that they definitely need to improve.

Hey there, 1st thanks for the great review. It was the final push I needed to purchase one. I did my first shoot using the SSD in 5.2 k raw utilizing the additional licenses (pro res and dng). After loading the footage I'm unable to view it, and what I can view has discoloration and is glitchy to a point of non use. Is there a process that I should be aware of to use this footage? DO I need to convert the files to another format? Do I need to provide info to unlock the licenses? I have no idea . PLEASE HELP as my clients are bugging out! Thank you very much

Hi guys, Please help me..My inspire 2 recently crash out of the blue & it was clearly a Manufacturing defect..The DJI guys are giving reasons & not responding well..My drone can't be turned ON then too I have extracted the flight records & sent to the DJI ..they are asking for a MCDat file which I can't see at my end and no video cache file is available as I wasn't recording at that time..Please help me it has been 3 months I am struggling..Also plz tell me whether the MCDat file & video cache file are related and whether they are really required to analyse the cause of accident
