Then I saw you in the debates, I found that you are one of the greatest talents of Pakistan and after fifty years you are more talented and experienced person. You are great orator, great speaker and great presenter. On top of it you’re a great person. This man's voice revolutionised​ the radio world whether it's sports roundup or any other current affairs program his voice is the benchmark​. These days when I see the Indian media there is a real vacuum inside. Handful of broadcaster those are doing their duty but majority of them are below standard. Over the years radio has the upper hand than television. We the BBC people know the difference very well. Thank you hamare Parvez sahab for this timeless treasure.

An excellent conversation with Pervaiz Alam! Having experienced his leadership at our alma mater University of Karachi, then later to hear him on BBC has been a pleasure. There are many things in his growth that would be of interest and I am so looking forward to a proposed radio conversations. For instance his obvious love and respect for Mahmud Husain Khan Afridi (5 July 1907 - 12 April 1975), I was privileged to be at his funeral prayers (as a Christian). His impressions from his alma mater Jamia Millia Educational Complex (located in Malir, Karachi, Pakistan) on the lives of so many. Contrast that with alumni from St Patrick's High School (a Roman Catholic educational institution in Saddar Town, Karachi founded in 1861 by the Jesuits) OR Sindh Madrasa (founded in 1885 by Hassan Ali Effendi, a Sindhi of Turkish origin). The impact from these educational institutions on current state of Pakistan!

شفیع نقی جامعی نہایت خوبصورت اور ملنسار شخصیت ھے یہ میرے لیے اعزاز کی بات ھے ان سے مجھ جیسے کم عقل ان پڑھ بی بی سی اردو کے لندن کے سٹوڈیو میں دوران رات کے 8 بجے سیربین کا پروگرام کے یادگاری ملاقات ہمیشہ یاد رہےگا اس شخص کے آواز سے آشنا تھے مگر جب گیٹ پر لینے آئے تو صرف و صرف آواز سے پہچانا یہ ملاقات سن 2006 میں ھویی یہ میرے زندگی کا ایک ناقابل فراموش واقع ھوے ان کے ہاتھوں کا لکھا ہوا گیٹ پاس آج بھی میرے ساتھ موجود ھے۔

Today, I am able to see Pervej Alam, Shafi Naqi Jamie. I used to listen to BBC Urdu 1992. Then I remember for sometime Pervez Alam also went o Urdu service and came back to Hindi service. That time I used to stick to BBC all 4 time, 7:30 am, 10:25am, 7:30pm-8:30pm, 10:45pm. Yes, onetime 4 times. "Shafi Naqi Jamie" Hindi mei bhi service mei suna tha, London mei sham ke 4:00 baje hai, Pakistan mein 8:00 pm, Ab Aap Shafi Naqi Jamie Se Khabarei Suniye. Omkar Nath Srivastava Sahab ka "Hindi Se Purane".

Hemant ji, you are gem of a person to remember someone like me - an ordinary broadcaster. Yes, those were the golden days. Radio was at its best and committed listers like you made it a memorable experience. I'm so proud to have worked with some of the stalwarts of Hindi and Urdu broadcasting such as Onkar Nath Srivastava, Kailash Budhwar, Raza Ali Abidi and Rashid Ashraf to name a few. Shafi Jamie is still broadcasting with the same vigour and vibrancy. Grateful to you for sharing your memories. Pervaiz Alam
