Amazing tutorial EJ! One thing i did that gave it a really cool effect, was adding the half tone dots into a projector on the specular masks and changed the projection to flat. Definitely looked different from the spiderverse shader, but it gave it a more semi-flat comic book look! Cheers man!

Also, i was going to ask, do you know how to use the color of the lights to affect the cell shader without losing the actual color of the material? Like i set the color of the light to red, and now the object is only red. I'm trying to use this technique to make a comic book "skin" type texture for a character. This may just require a whole other tutorial to explain haha ;) but either way thanks for always making amazing tuts! you're the man EJ!

Awesome tutorial. Learn so much. things I had no Idea you could do inside a layer shader. So if you were making on a Hand painted Spider suite would the web and pattern texture be the bottom most layer in the luminance? Or would it be added as the color channel?

@hectorescobar94505 жыл бұрын
eyedesyn sounds like you have not used Blender’s new 2.8 release. They revamped everything. Look up Blender 2.8 Evee and grease pencil. Blender’s new release is up there with Houdini in terms of advancement
@eyedesyn5 жыл бұрын
Grease Pencil is just for flat 2D layers, right?? These are totally different workflows, sketch & toon is fully 3D still
@hectorescobar94505 жыл бұрын
eyedesyn correct, But you can combine the grease pencil with 3D to get a great 3D comic like visual approach. Also, Blenders shading system is more advance. You have a very competent node shader graph where you can have better control of things. Check out ‘Guilty Gear’ in blender

Hi EJ, I'm having luck with adding the half tone effect on the shader-ball but when I add a plane below the shader-ball and apply another halftone effect I'm not getting the same results in the shadows. The shader-ball casts a shadow on the plane and its not applying the same effect.
