Agreed - very interesting learnt a lot. David any further thoughts / tips on using Poliigon textures in Octane C4D - They look great just a small disconnect as they have tutorials on the standalone octane renderer and can't find anything about using them in Octane C4D.

This video was AWESOME. I've been wanting to learn more about how Octane compares to Modo's preview renderer, and your video was perfect. I'm so used to art directing shots in Modo and a non-real-time renderer is unusable for me. But Octane looks better for animation flickering and THAT BLOOM on the lights looks incredible. Fantastic overview!

This was a much better intro tutorial than one I paid for! Thanks, greatly appreciated. I would pay for your series. Specifically...as inviting having a real time render is, I would appreciate learning from others how to anticipate starting design in Physical, vRay, because of ultimately long renders. So far I've used Octane for product shots, and like u say, art design can be awfully fast. I've found the material system lacking compared to vRay, et al, but maybe thats my lack of expertise.

This is freakin' awesome! I've had Octane for a year or so, but haven't gotten around to using it... Have only been playing with a metric shit ton of blurry reflections and frosty glass-spheres (A LOT I tell you!), just cause it's so damned fast even on an iMac. Gotta say that even if you're just playing with your favorite buttons, this is one of the more informative Octane overviews I've seen :-) Can't wait to see what you'll come up with next! Also: I can't believe why any professionals are still using CPU renderes... It boggles my mind why Maxon haven't already build/bought an unbiased GPU-engine.

Great tutorial. I've been looking into Octane render but i have the trash can cylinder mac which does not have a compatible video card for Octane and can not be switched out. Bummer! So, I am contemplating the purchase of the external Bizon box including a NVIDIA Tital X card which will unfortunately cost me just over $2,000. I know, ouch! I guess hearing about the "VR" version helps a bit. Thanks again for the great tutorial!
@octanejesus7 жыл бұрын
NooooOOOOO you gotta switch to PC!
@eyedesyn7 жыл бұрын
Hey Jamie, I was considering the same thing but it's all about if you trust what Apple is going to come out with next year... Or if you like paying that premium for Apple products in lieu of speed.
@jedezign17 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback David and EJ. Lots to consider! I am a graphic designer by trade and mac is still the industry standard for us. so... I think for the time being I will stick with the mac and upgrade to a slightly less expensive card "NVIDIA 980 Ti" and the Bizon box for a total investment of $1,500. Keep those videos coming guys, they are much appreciated and invaluable some of us!!!

How does Octane stack up with the Arnold Renderer? I'm really interested in hearing your opinion on how it differs.
@octanejesus7 жыл бұрын
Arnold, I think, is the highest quality, most controllable production renderer out there. The issue with it for me though, is that it uses CPUs to render, vs GPUs, and is much more expensive. You'd need to have a pretty beefy render farm to approach similar render times, so Octane seems to me to be the best one-man-band type solution out there, though people like Trevor Kerr would disagree (that dude manages to build tons of cheap CPU render nodes, but he's one of the only solo artists I know that really makes Arnold work great for them). Octane is also much easier to learn, I feel. Hope that helps!
