In this C4D tutorial we'll learn how to create your own enamel or die-cast pins modeled with Octane. It's relatively easy but the results are so rewarding, especially if you love enamel pins like I do. You'll need Photoshop or any other photo editing app to setup the graphics but

Yeah I was actually surprised it worked without breaking when I first tried the technique. I think keeping the Mid Level of the displacement at 1, and making sure the graphics are aligned, is the secret.

hey there mate, great tutorial as always! quick question though: at 2:01 when you make the shape meant to be extruded, is there any motive to use 'expand appearance + expand' instead of 'outline strokes'? thanks and keep up the great work!
@NewPlastic
@NewPlastic 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah so if you outline stroke, you'll get vector shapes both of the outer side of the stroke and of the inner side. What you want is to only get the shape of the outer side of the stroke, and expanding appearance merges the stroke and the inner shape as one large shape. My pleasure dude!

Great tutorial! But when importing materials for diffuse, color map, and displacement, the sizes are completely off. And my shape is a bit complex, so I cannot have a perfect fit when playing with a transform node... Any ideas?
@NewPlastic
@NewPlastic Жыл бұрын
Hmm yeah it'll be tricky, maybe this: Click on material tag In "Projection" Set to Flat Up in the top icons, where you have "Point Mode", "Edge Mode" etc click on "Texture Mode" Now you can move the texture around with the axis tool for better precision.

@@NewPlastic I tried to follow along with your video but it got a bit confusing for me to figure out how to work solely with JPG/PNG files.I had to keep going back to the beginnings of the video to figure out how you set up the smart objects and stuff for your original vector files. I also had trouble figuring out how to set up C4D with the JPG/PNG files that I turned into a vector outline/displacement layer, etc. I'm super new to C4D so having someone explain step-by-step with this method would really help! I hope you'll consider as it would be a life saver!

hi I am new to all this can we do all this in blender and octane for blender and have you made these for only rendering purposes or can we cast these like are these only for renders or are 3D objects for 3D printing.
@NewPlastic

No these are just made for rendering, not as 3d models. And yes techincally you can use this knowledge for Octane for Blender, I assume a lot is similar. But I wouldn't know.
