Hey Rob, thank you for doing these videos - I can’t believe how much you’ve helped me learn. I was a proponent of CinemaP3 before Filmic Pro went subscription, and actually look forward to the day that I can delete Filmic Pro from all my devices. For that to happen, I would need a CinemaP3 “Remote” app. Got my fingers crossed on that, and I would gladly pay for it. Thanks again for your efforts and skills.

Hey! Thanks so much. Interesting. I only heard of Cinema P3 after Filmic Pro went to subscription. Yes, if Cinema P3 adds a "remote" option then that will be quite the game changer!

hey man, great video, Have you figured out how to lock the Shutter speed at 180 degrees? I find I have to fumble around every time I change the camera or shut the app down. It, makes it hard when you are run and gunning.

I've learned a lot from your videos, thanks! One thing that keeps coming up is a message that pops up on the screen while filming; "media services reset." Are you familiar with it? Sometimes, when it comes up, I'm able to tap it and it goes away. Sooner or later, though during the shoot, it reappears. Last month, I was shooting a show. Five minutes into the shoot, the message showed up. When I tapped it to get rid of it, the app crashed. Amazingly enough, when I tapped on the app, it continued shooting. The problem was, I lost almost a minute of the show.

Thank you! Ah that's a real pain. I presume it's not a storage issue then. The only thing I can think of is to uninstall and then reinstall the app if that does not fix things then drop the creator a message. He's very responsive.

thanks ! sometimes when i walk with a gimbal i blow out some parts in the video colors look washedout. . . do you know how to avoid this ? i can lock the exposure but sometimes i like to have some extra exposure ( wish it has something that it will allow to add limit of one stop of light or something )
@SmartphoneFilmmaker
@SmartphoneFilmmaker Жыл бұрын
No problem! If you are filming during daylight then set your white balance to 5600K and that should keep the colour consistent. Also using ND filters help with having nice rich colours and keep your shutter speed/frames per second down.

well done. you become a master of this app. I have two qstn about this app. first one is my I phone 13 pro overheating while I am using this and how to overcome it? The second qstn is how can we take better videos in the low light interior? actually, I am a real estate agent from India so I use this app for listing videos then overheating and noise in low-light videos create problems.
@SmartphoneFilmmaker
@SmartphoneFilmmaker Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Overheating could be due to not enough storage free on your phone, lots of web pages open on your phone whilst filming or when outdoors it can just be too hot so it’s good to give the phone a cool down break. Outside of those options it’s hard to say. Low light filming the key is to keep your iso as low as possible which you’ll see with the exposure set to manual. It might be a good idea to invest in a decent sized led light you can take to the properties that are just too dark for iPhone small sensors.

This is great and very handy to have, Rob. One small question: when I turn on the Max SA Control option, it doesn’t limit my SS to 180 degrees as it seems to do for yours. Maybe I’m missing the option to specify what the max SA is? This would be very useful as the one tiny niggle I have with Cindma P3 is that it’s easy to inadvertently nudge SS off the 180 mark, so anything that locked it there would be very welcome. Great content as ever.
@SmartphoneFilmmaker
@SmartphoneFilmmaker Жыл бұрын
Thank so much! I believe it does only grey out higher shutter speeds once you select the shutter. It does seem to stay in place for me . Once you press iso that should hide the dial thus stopping you from nudging it accidentally. Hope that helps!

Thank you, nice video. Could you explain how we can use the d log and why we there are c-log, d log and rec 709 10 bits and 2020 HLG 10 bits cube 33 and 66? Please, I havent found that information and I dont know how use them uin post production. hello from México.
@SmartphoneFilmmaker
@SmartphoneFilmmaker Жыл бұрын
You're welcome! The different type of Logs are available for different types of phones but the Cinema P3 website has all that info in great detail. It's for colour grading purposes so you don't need them unless you intend to colour grade in post. Cube 33 and 66 is dependant on which software you will edit on.

Gr8 video. I'm new to Cinema P3 Pro and the iPhone. I have iPhone 13 Standard and the issue I have is that every time I go into Cinema P3 Pro the video stabilization is switch off. Is there something in the settings to get that to stay on?
@SmartphoneFilmmaker
@SmartphoneFilmmaker 11 ай бұрын
Thanks! Thant's weird. You do have stabilization modes within in the app so perhaps it's turning off until you select one. Other a quick uninstall and reinstall often fixes these kinds of things.

Thanks, but I'm interested to know if is it possible to set a very low frame rate, like 12fps or 16fps, because I need it to digitalize super 8 films with a film projector and a lower frame rate helps to reduce the flickering when shooting on a 18fps projection@@SmartphoneFilmmaker

Hi Rob I always use for videos for tutorials on camera Apps. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, and I am viewing your Cinema P3 Pro exposure settings tutorial one year later. My screens does not have the same info as yours, and I couldn't get the square reticule either. On the Camera Settings, your screen shows Center, Spot and Manual fully spelt out. On my screen, it shows, C, S and M. Today 21st August 2024, I have just downloaded the App, and I am disappointed that I cannot follow exactly your procedures. Many thanks Terry Davis
@SmartphoneFilmmaker

Hi. I believe C is center, Spot and M is for manual. These either relate to focus, exposure or both. They very recently updated the layout of the app so I am still learning the changes currently. I should have more or less everything I have apart from Pro Res and Log options.

@SmartphoneFilmmaker
@SmartphoneFilmmaker Жыл бұрын
If you are using the 180 degree rule (24fps with 1/48 shutter speed ect) then you'll likely need ND filters or a variable ND filter. I don't know a huge amount about photography but that would be my guess.

which video setting/format do you recommend to get the highest quality video from P3. We are shooting real estate videos inside homes and always run into trouble with windows

I would shoot 4k for best quality and that will allow you do do some re-framing in post in needed and still keep a high quality image. Keep ios as low as possible but if you have to raise it then keep it under 100.

Hey. Once you set your iso and shutter speed that will lock the exposure for you. If you are using separate reticules then you lock the exposure but tapping on it when you have the exposure levels where you want them.

I keep having an issue where I set my ISO and Shutter Angle, and yet my exposure seems to change when I pan or tilt across darker/lighter areas. The ISO and Shutter values don’t change, but the image is getting darker and lighter depending on the subject. I have everything set to Manual, including my exposure meter. Anyone else having this problem? Is there something I’m missing? How do I completely lock exposure so that it never changes?

Hi. If you have everything locked and if you are using an iPhone then it will be something called tone mapping. iOS devices have this annoying feature which can’t be turned off where if something moves past the camera in a high contrast location the exposure shifts for a moment trying to correct itself. Unfortunately it’s just something you have to work around.
