Never been to Odeon before (I'm American), but I remember movies used to have slideshow ad presentations before the curtain raiser and trailers.

If you don’t know what odeon is remember this Both Odeon and AMC Theatres are owned by the same company

Just saying, but I don't think there would've been a pre-reel at all, since most Odeons of the time had curtains that opened and closed when the film started rolling. What we see at the beginning would be playing in a television in the foyer, as JASPURGEON said.
