beyond her outstanding beauty, a real and sensitive woman... She is a pleasure to watch talking.

her tears about a great genius of cinema like Kubrick always touch me

I like the interviewer actually. His first responsibility is to the person watching, and he gets a lot of interesting answers and insights out of her in the time available. A proper interview - none of that easy 'late show' or red carpet nonsense.

Yep, like his "I don't care about the '50 takes' etc." These kinda interviews with the folks who actually knew and worked with Kubrick are wonderful, and such a contrast with the weird rep he gets from the Twitter crowd.

real heartfelt emotion from Kidman, just as with Cruise in his interview from the same set. Respect for these actors and of course the genius that was Kubrick.

For the people who worked with Kubrick, his death was so shocking, and Nicole was one those people who felt shocked at the moment to know the news of Kubrick's death.

Sounds like Kubrick treated Nicole Kidman very differently to how he treated Shelley Duvall on the Shining - which was quite brutal from what I heard. But of course that's just hearsay
@matonmongo4 жыл бұрын
Perhaps, though it's also probably no accident that Duvall is often cast in more stereotypically 'hysterical' roles. And even she has admitted that the pressure Kubrick put on her was 'necessary'.

@@matonmongo Perhaps he wanted Shelley tense and hysterical and he wanted Nicole open and vulnerable.

@@farerolobos9382 Makes sense, good point. Though I doubt wild man Nicholson required much 'prep' (lol).

Looks like Kubrick met his match when having to debate the pot scene with Kidman because SHE thought it wasn't good enough.

Business and art cannot coexist (in the long term). Once the former can make use of the latter instrumentally, this loses its essence as soon as it gains a function, for art has no other purpose than itself.

This is a dumb way to look at things. If you’re talking about eyes wide shut then how does that apply? Art is subjective so the essence is only lost to you and it seems like you’re projecting. If anything time will enhance a piece like it has with eyes wide shut
