Any nod to his growth as leader would have been nice, especially to suggest that he was trying to meet his brother half way. As bad as I think this episode is, I do think Ember and Thorax were both fun to watch. Though seeing Twilight let Spike suffer from his grandiose terrors and Starlight going back on her no-nonsense attitude was shameful. I wish this episode instead was about Spike trying to juggle giving both the time they deserved and not trying to avoid a war of all things. Maybe it'd be similar to Sweet and Elite, but at least it'd be actually believable.

But on it's own, it's actually a funny joke. One of the only few funny jokes in this joke of an episode. Also, great point that dragons have even more similar names than ponies :P

Now that you pointed out that everyone else acted so dumb in this episode, that's exactly what happened in every Spike-episode. And these ones are perfect examples: Equestria Games, Gauntlet of Fire, Times They Were a Changeling - even this episode - etc. These Spike-episodes was a total train-wreck. If you want Spike to be useful, then everyone else must be just as useless as he is. So, Spike becoming an ambassador and an advisor was a mistake. Literally, everything Spike achieved was a mistake.

Hell yeah, Cinemare Sins time again! I always found "Triple Threat" to be an interesting episode, Since it really puts his friendships with both Thorax and Ember to the test! And it was also intruging to learn that the cutie mark map could summon other creatures besides ponies, Sure the map only summoned Spike because it was about a friendship problem that he caused but still. And all of the shenanigans that ensue while the characters tried to keep Thorax and Ember from meeting each other were hilarious, Especially the parts where Ember couldn't tell Twilight and Starlight apart And the part where Ember ate the walls in Twilight's castle had me rolling on the floor I mean it was like "Wow, Talk about being eaten out of house and home." And the scene where Ember and Thorax gave each other advice was also very good, Because they made some good points to each other especially when Ember told Thorax that when he makes a decision as leader he needs to lay down the law and let it be known that it's final. Speaking of which, I can remember that people (Myself included) started shipping Ember and Thorax after this episode aired. Hell the scene at the end when Spike united the two of them in friendship kinda felt like a wedding ceremony even though it actually wasn't. But overall I enjoyed this episode!

Since you eliminate their similar color schemes that makes the distinct shape of their manes more prominent, and Starlight's highlight looks like a TOTALLY different color from Twilight's with that filter applied. By YOUR logic Ember should have an easier time telling those two apart, add a sin for that!

The crux of the problem with Spike - and episodes featuring him - is that you must to drag everyone else down if you want him to shine at all. In Times They Were a Changeling, for example, Spike were the only one who knew that befriending the Changeling was the right thing to do while everyone else was like: "Nah! That Changeling must die!" I'm no Spike-hater, but I'd prefer to have Spike as a minor character, just like he originally were. It's definitely for the best, especially to ensure that Spike's no cause for derailments in the franchise. Also, I'm convinced that Spike's being used as a self-insertion, which is what the Spike-fandom is about. No wonder why they're objecting to Spike Abuse.

Wished Spike got to chew out Ember and Thorax for reprimanding him, since you kind of can't blame him for fearing due to how aggresive Ember can be and how much shrewed up the buggos are now. This episode really left a bad taste since not only it was Spike's last PROPER interaction with Ember and Thorax(Sweet And Smokey didn't seem like its enough to count) and it ended off badly.(Its worse with Thorax's case, bad enough everything changeling-related was stolen by Starlight despite its SPIKE who befriended Thorax, NOT HER) But the fact this is the ONLY time Spike was ever called by the Map and its basically mocking him since its only for a problem he caused. Whats worse is he won't get another chance since Discord's stupid ass plan in season 9 destroyed the tree, which caused the Map to no longer work(thanks alot, you stupid noodle of chaos).

The way he fought and stood up to Garble in the Gauntlet of Fire and made Ember the dragon lord. When he put his reputation in the Crystal Empire aside for them to accept Thorax as a friend. Again, Ember and Thorax are friends with Spike because of how brave and noble he is. I hate it more when they dumb down AJ because she's usually more stable than Spike. With AJ it always feels like "Oh noes we gotta dumb her down for an episode to have her learn a lesson and 'grow as a person' or else the fans might view her as a non-main character again."
