Don't get me wrong I LOVE this movie. The idea of asymptomatic carriers of the Rage Virus is both cool and realistic. The intro showing how people have their fight or flight moment. Very good. But the way the virus is reintroduced is eye rolling to me. In reality if there was a virus like Rage then asymptomatic people would be guarded 24/7 and any visits would be HEAVILY supervised. Everything else I personally like.
@yrenekurtz5268
@yrenekurtz5268 3 жыл бұрын
Plot-wise the movie has a HUGE problem of needing everybody involved to catastrophically screw up on every moment in order for the virus once again to become a threat. That scene where the army rounds up all the civilians, crams them in a room with only one exit, and not even one soldier is left to keep it defended... holy crap , what the hell? It wasn't even somebody making a bad decision on the run, but actually part of a pre-planned containment protocol.

And on the other, we have a virus with immediate symptoms, seriously destructive potential, no way to make a vaccine as we know it, and it spreads faster than an std in a gangbang.” The government reaction would be swift, effective, and calculated for the second one. The real question is why leave her alive in the first place? She doesn’t have the anti bodies for the rage virus, it’s just something to do with genetics. Unless you want to make her Ghengis Khan and Charlemagne combined you literally can’t do anything with her. At that point she became a danger and a liability and probably should’ve been put down.

@dawnofthewalkers4915 3 жыл бұрын
@@handleonafridge6828 I don’t think it’s a joke and I agree with him. If the government can fuck up containing covid then they would royally fuck up a rage virus that is extremely infectious and can turn someone in roughly 10 seconds. It would move to quick for them to get on it in a timely manner and haven’t even factored in the panic that would sweep through the civilian population. Edit: didn’t see the second one part you wrote. Yea, to prevent a second outbreak they should have a plan to deal with it, but the possibility of the containment plan falling apart is still there.

I think Zombie Fatigue happened around 2006-08. "Slither" by James Gunn was released in 2007 and flopped quite badly in theaters despite receiving good critical reception. It's also a lot of fun; a sci-fi horror-comedy with fondness for prosthetics and creatures. Anyway, yeah, the Zombie Explosion happened with "Dawn of the Dead" in 2004 (based on a screenplay by Gunn, actually), and ZF took a couple years if I remember correctly.

First of, thank you for reacting to the first 28 Days Later and reacting to 28 Weeks Later - the most polarised sequel to its predecessor. Means a lot and when the day comes, I’ll be seeing yer reaction to 28 Years Later soon when it’s out on our own film screens someday. The music piece for Don’s transformation into a zombie and killing his wife was originally used for Frank's death from 28 Days Later and that broke our hearts when we see a guy who is hoping there would be civilization left in the UK after the rage virus devastated the country die after saying his final "I'm sorry" and "I love you" to his daughter. And now, we see Don, a guy who became very regretful for leaving Alice - his wifey and mum of their two kids - to die, saying what would be his final "I'm sorry" and "I love you" to her before turning into a monster who is fighting within his rage, hence the name "rage virus". So Frank and Don have got things in common: they're both fathers, they were married before the Rage virus outbreak, they got infected in a different way (Frank from blood drop from corpse and Don from a kiss with a carrier) and their last words before turning included "I'm sorry" and "I love you". P.S. Frank gets gunned down immediately after he turns by assault rifles while Don gets gunned down with an assault rifle by his daughter later on One last thing I gotta get off my mind: Don Harris should’ve had a redemption story-arc in which Alice doesn’t infect him but a US soldier or two would end up getting infected by Alice. Soldiers would come in on General Stone’s orders and forcibly remove Don outta the room before he would kiss Alice, confused and wondering whats going on until he realizes that she is infected yet immune. The troops then heavily guard the area, with Don heartbroken by whats happened to his wife and driven by guilt for abandoning her. That is until Alice accidentally bokes on one of the soldiers’ face, leading to her very own death at the hands of the two infected (instead of infected Don), getting killed the same way she did and thus causing the Rage virus outbreak in District One. When Andy gets separated from Tammy & Major Scarlet Levy, Don will put pressure on NATO to track his son down and then get chased again by infected who get gunned down by the troops, who also have to kill uninfected. Don would’ve joined not only his two kids (who are grateful he’s alive yet pissed off at him for lying) but also Scarlet and Doyle from the very moment they escape from District One before the firebombing commences. Rest of the film goes as normal - Doyle getting set ablaze by the US troops, Scarlet beaten to death with assault rifle by an Infected - by the end of the storyline I came up with for Don, he will make the ultimate heroic sacrifice by pouring a loada perfume (the rage zombies’ catnip) all over himself, admit his fault and saying his final “I’m sorry” and “I love you” - he would inject himself with his son’s Rage-infected blood so that he would distract a herd/mob of the infected, maybe beat and kill a few or a bunch at a time. Don’s transformation into a zombie in this scene the way it’s filmed and choreographed remains the same in my version but he would’ve looked at his two kids and control his own rage - exhibiting form of sadness knowing that he’s a goner. Then he runs off. The infected crowd would gain upper hand at Don, who then lights himself on fire due to the perfume being flammable, thus setting off chain reaction to the infected crowd being set ablaze, all of em including Don then die at the hail of gunfire by NATO troops. How about them apples?

@@patricknewton3005 I think they are two different films taking a different approach to the same kind of situation. Days was more about Characters struggling to survive and running into the worst kind of "Survivors" and Weeks was more of an action movie where everything was about "containment" and then what happens when containment fails. What steps need to be taken in order to "Stop the Spreading of the Rage Virus". Imagine if Covid-19 had a 80% fatality rate instead of less then 1% fatality rate. The world would be a MUCH different place then it is today. (To say the least)

I agree with your comments guys, this more of a chaotic action movie than the first one, also the ending clearly set up for a future sequel how to survive a zombie world rather than just focusing on UK alone which would be cool. I know you guys said you were getting away from doing sequels BUT you guys really should check out "Psycho 2" it is a fantastic sequel AND some could argue that it is as good if not better then the original. It really puts a bow on Norman Bates's story arch. Yes there is a Psycho 3 and 4, BUT much like "The Terminator and Aliens" Franchises you really only need to watch the first 2. Psycho 2 is an underrated Gem of a movie which many people have not even seen.

If you want that proper apocalyptic feel then it is hard to beat the original "Zombies: Dawn of the Dead". It brilliantly conveys a collapsing world. Even at 44 years old, this original "Big Daddy" of the Zombie genre is well worth watching. So good in fact, there was a reprise in 2004, another great film with an opening sequence a match for this one - "engage panic mode and run screaming from the Theatre".
