Well it's an issue with wording. Flying humans, giant trade routs, not giving into societal frivolity- all of those ideas are "mad" in that they don't make sense to common people. Waiting for your fictional royal lover to make his choice, that's actual madness and benefits nobody to indulge in.

Actually, Wilhelm Wundt founded the first laboratory dedicated only to psychology in 1879, and psychology also has a long history prior to that. It isn't known for sure when Alice takes place, but it is thought to be in the 1880s. Psychology is not at all a new thing, and asylums existed for a long time as a way to handle the mentally ill before psychology was better understood.

You know the worst part of this movie? They get the Queen of Hearts FREAKING NAME WRONG. "The Red Queen" is a character that only appears in Lewis Caroll's "Through the Looking Glass", is a CHESS PIECE not a playing card, is helpful to Alice, and is not at all evil. The antagonist is named "The Queen of Hearts".
@malinicorrea93798 жыл бұрын
Plus the book isn't even called "Alice in Wonderland", it's called "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", but then again the animated movie got the name wrong too so whatever.
@krispybaconvideos8 жыл бұрын
+Malini Correa They didn't get the name wrong. They mixed The Red Queen and The Queen of Hearts into one character. Notice how that in the book The Red Queen and The White Queen were sisters, The Queen of Hearts was never said to be related to any of them. In this movie the character who's obviously The Queen of Hearts is the sister of The White Queen(which The Queen if Hearts was never said to be the sister of The White Queen) and is called "The Red Queen", that proves the 2 characters were mixed. Also a common shorter version for "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is in fact "Alice in Wonderland".

But organs do actually shift back to their natural position when the corset is taken off. The constructing of the ribcage would only happen if the corset was sized incorrectly (which is rare since corsets were specifically designed FOR the wearer) or if it was tight laced. Which again, wasn’t common. Also, YOUR TAKING HISTORICAL REFERENCE FROM A PIRATE OF THE CARIBBEAN MOVIE LORD HAVE MERCY ON MY PATIENCE I SWEAR TO GOD-

@@murderoustendencies They were usually not harmful and certainly no acessories. You're thinking about the fashion trend of "wasp waists", achieved by unreasonably tight lacing, which was a largely mocked and frowned upon fashion trend even in it's own time. A pair of stays or a corset were made as bust support primarily (no bras until the mid-20-century) but they can also support the back during hard manual labour, which women did lots of on farms and in factories. Please check out the videos of Bernadette Banner or Priorattire on this topic, both historical seamstresses, because they can give much more elaborate and professional explanations.

Corsets were actually a huge benefit for working women and women in general. This whole bs feminist move in movies and books about how "coRseTS aRE seXIst" is stupid and misinformed. Add a sin for every time they call the Jabberwock the Jabberwocky. Jabberwocky is the name of the poem, not the monster. I had to recite this entire poem for a play I was in back when I was 12, this fact was shoved into my head over and over. So when I hear them call the monster (who is perfectly voiced by Christopher Lee who wanted to burble his voice as he monster does in the poem) a Jabberwocky, it irks me to an annoying degree. Like, people get mad when I rant about this. As the Nostalgia Critic said, American McGee's Alice series is a better version of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland than Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

What poem have you been reading because the one by Lewis Carroll clearly identifies the beast as being named the jabberwocky. Where does it say its not? Lewis Carroll, 1832 - 1898 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. "Beware the Jabberwock, my son The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!" He took his vorpal sword in hand; Long time the manxome foe he sought- So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought. And, as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came! One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back. "And hast thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!" He chortled in his joy. 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.

The only redeemable thing is how they picked the deepest notes and poems of the book meaning that somehow, this still adapts from the source material, and all implies the next movie will too.

@@drgaz6235 Having an actual consistent plotline doesn't mean an Alice in Wonderland reboot can't have crazy shit happening. Can you imagine an AiW story NOT having weird creatures and silly concepts? Yes, the original AiW was more like a fever dream, with random things happening to Alice that dont exactly link together like a storyline, and I do agree that if you were to make it less like an actual dream, it needs to have more rules just like any fictional world. But the rules don't have to be that restricting honestly, or it'll just ruin the fun. I think we can have some tart eating frogs and fish that walk on their fins if said creatures have the ability to talk in the first place.

The things that most annoyed me about this movie are, in order: 1) The monster is the JABBERWOCK, not the "Jabberwocky". "Jabberwocky" is the name of the poem, not the monster! How did they manage to mess this point up? 2) The characters, including Alice, have absolutely no appeal, and they all act as if they're half asleep. 3) Having the Red Queen of Hearts be the sister of the white chess queen is weird. It would be more logical, and more symmetric, to have made her the red chess queen. 4) All the other stuff listed in this video.

We should only see it if Alice is there seeing it.The Hatter's flashback is one of the things that completely breaks that rule. Also, "Jabberwocky" is the name of the poem, not of the monster, which is called "Jabberwock". These are just my nitpicky thoughts. It's a good movie, it just doesn't stay true to Alice.
