Here's a sin you forgot to add. All the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park franchise were recreated using DNA that was extracted from insects preserved in amber, and then mutated to fill in the gaps with the genetic code. That being the case, how the heck did they recreate a Mosasaurus? Do they really expect us to believe a prehistoric mosquito actually bit a creature that lives in the freaking ocean, and they just happened to find it? In the books these movies were based on, the scientists don't even know what they have until they grow it. So the odds of them actually finding a mosquito containing Mosasaurus DNA go beyond statistically insignificant and into absurd. Also, given the amount of time, money, and resources that went into recreating these extinct animals, there's no freaking way there would be a petting zoo where they'd let a bunch of immature children play with them, even if they weren't dangerous.
@Somnogenesis
@Somnogenesis 2 жыл бұрын
This is a very good point. And I'm now picturing the moment they hatched their first mosasaur, unaware what the DNA belonged to until they'd patched up the genome and grown it in the lab. Would it even be able to fight its way out of the egg? I'm imagining Mesozoic mosasaurs must surely have given birth to live young. So the lab techs would have to have cracked open the egg themselves, then realised the hatchling can only flop around like a landed fish. "Oh crap, somebody fetch a really big tank of water, quick!"

The only explanation I can think of for how they got a Mosasaur relates to the giant prehistoric shark from The Meg. Maybe it was lying dormat at the bottom of the ocean and it came close enough to the surface looking for food when it woke up and InGen lured it to it's tank with food? Or maybe they found some amber of it in a mosquito in a dried up lakebed?
@amiplin1751
@amiplin1751 Жыл бұрын
At the beginning of the movie, there's a scene where the nerdy kid explains in the background how back in Jurassic park, they didn't know tissue or something preserves DNA, so that once the amber mines were depleted, they could still extract DNA. So I guess that's how they got the DNA for the fish boi.

I’m just wondering how Claire managed to outrun a dinosaur. It was discovered that T-Rexes might not have been as fast as we thought, the t-rex was only able to run about 17mph. However the average joe could only run about 15mph for SHORT periods of time. Usain Bolt, who can tun at 28mph could outrun the t-rex. 14:24 it is actually possible to run in heels, it just depends on the density of the heel spike itself. The main issue with her run, though, is that she is running in a fashion that lands each foot directly in front of the other, meaning she is angling her legs inward; therefore applying wayward pressure to the heel spike, thereby allowing them both to snap off sideways.

I think he just hates women. Such a drawn out, over the top death for a minor female character who did nothing wrong, or anything at all, in the film. Someone must have hurt him for him to hate defenseless women so much. He even wrote a gory death for the old maid in Fallen Kingdom, because watching women get slaughtered is played for comedy in these films for some reason. He also made Bryce Dallas Howards character the punchline of every joke in JW, and utterly irrelevant in JW:FK. No strong women who help save the day like Dr. Ellie Sattler or Dr. Sarah Harding in the reboots, only depictions of over sexualised, toxic male power fantasys allowed - because men get everything done while women stand around screaming helplessly. A massive step back for the franchise, and frankly pretty amazing he took that route in the modern era of equal opportunity. Not to mention the white washing of the franchise and removing people of colour from main roles, reduced to either background characters like the black guy in JW, or a source of comedy, like the Asian kid in FK. 🙄

I liked this movie despite it's many many flaws, but I feel it would have been more interesting to see a bigger focus on Owen's bond with the raptors. When he stares into Charlie's eyes just before she gets blown up, that was a genuinely sad moment, but they didn't really do much with this bond for most of the movie.

0:45 Okay so the problem with this sin is that for it not to be a sin, Jurassic World would have to be running a flight to just about every city in the developed world which is insane. Not to mention the size of the necessary airport would effectively take over the entire island. Additionally the expenses would be through the roof as many flights would be mostly empty. This method makes more sense, the tourists fly to Costa Rica and then ferry to the island. A ferry requires a dock which is much smaller than an airport and carries more people than a helicopter so it makes sense. Additionally, JW can use it as an additional source of revenue, as people have to pay for tickets to go to JW as well as for the ferry ride. 1:58 This is likely a reference to the first JP. In that film, the raptors systematically test the electric fence for weak points. Once the I-Rex knows she can't break the glass, she attempts different methods to escape. Thus this plot point also serves to hint at the relationship between the I-Rex and the Raptors. 6:12 It is already established that JW is making a deal with Verizon for connection. Later in the film, Claire says that P11 is 4 miles from the nearest attraction. So it is somewhere over four miles from the resort, cell phone coverage hasn't been sorted yet, and is surrounded by all this forest and mountains. It's not unreasonable for coverage to be spotty. 8:02 She could also have seen the handlers who retrieved the body of her sibling go directly to the body, indicating they had some method of finding her. 10:20 When you sinned The Lost World you gave a sin for the set up for the girl's gymnastics at the beginning of the film. You can't sin The Lost World for setting up the gymnastics and then sin JW for not setting up the car repairs. You've made a no-win situation. 12:10 Hoskins does not need Grady here, he only needs the raptor's training and instinct. It's also established that Barry is with Hoskins given his comment about the mission being a field test. So Hoskins has one of the trainers who knows how to do the scent drills, and the raptors training around scent drills acting as muscle memory. He technically does not need Owen. 12:46 The van containing Claire and the kids is still at the raptor paddock. They are not in the van following the raptors, that is the van with the InGen soldiers in it. 14:00 It should be noted that at no point during their switch to the I-Rex's side do the raptors knowingly attack or target Owen and Barry. When Blue attacks Barry, she immediately stops when he calls her name and looks at him. When Owen then revs his motorcycle she follows him. Given that she followed him on the bike just a couple of minutes earlier, it is not unreasonable to think she is just following him because of training and not out of a desire to kill. Then she mysteriously disappears when Owen rejoins Claire and the kids so that indicates she doesn't attack them. 14:09 Throughout the film, Lowery is the only person shown to control the Paddock doors from the control room. She calls him since he controls whether or not P9 can be opened. She also asks if he is still there so obviously she doesn't know whether or not he has left. 14:40 You may not have noticed it, but when the I-Rex got up after having been thrown against the barriers of the Mosa area, her tail is illuminated hanging over the side of the lagoon. Given it would be significantly lower than where the shark was hanging earlier, it is not unreasonable for the Mosa to have seen that.

You know what’s hilarious? The 1995 Tekken anime movie had the exact same subplot of dinosaurs being genetically engineered to life and were going to be sold as bioweapons. The raptors in that movies not only had sound effects from Jurassic Park but even had the Indominus’s chameleon camouflage. It ended up being even lamer than the JW movies because the Tekken raptors were taken down by a bunch of martial artists. Kazuya even rips one in half with his bare hands. So much for Dino-weapons.

Looking back at this film, I'm getting tired of dinosaurs being overly monsterfied. I want a film that tries to picture dinosaurs in a more realistic light. That might actually make it good and new for once rather than making them monsters in a park. (And yes, I know Henry Wu said that nothing is natural in Jurassic World. But they have not improved in understanding dinosaurs in any way. The anatomy is wrong on so many creatures).

DeviljWheat I love these movies, but well... it seems to me like there was only one reason here why an in-universe explanation was given for why the animals look so unrealistic. When fans saw the designs of them, with virtually no change since the first movie despite how many years since of dinosaur research upending our views of dinosaurs, the producers had to say something about it. Which was that their genetic code is impure, although this was referenced in the other movies (a bit) it was emphasized much more here. So... after 3 movies is when this one tries to give a reason why dinosaur research that has changed our views of dinosaurs still hasn't been referenced in the Jurassic Park franchise yet...

@@companylovesmisery1463 A shit excuse to play on nostalgia and pander towards to hardcore JP fans. It's been 20 years since the original park got destroyed. Masarani Corp. should have adapted to the new research in order to keep the intrest of the public. And add new species of dinosaurs from the same families like Albertasaurus or Dilong from China. Much better alternatives that meets the requirement setup in the movies. Hell a Utahraptor can draw in new crowds since it's a raptor and bigger than the Raptors shown in Jp.

@@KhanMann66 exactly. Dinosaur research has progressed by continental leaps and bounds, even in something as simple as dozens of brand new dinosaur species and genera. And a surprising amount of the general public is privy to this news. So... there are honestly newly discovered dinosaurs probably almost as famous as Tyrannosaurus that the movie writers could have used and been at least somewhat up to date. I mean for pity's sake, yeah the Transformer movies a lot of people think are the worst things there ever were, but the Psittacosarus in AoE was a fairly accurate critter- apart from consuming fish- all because of the addition of quill-like proto-feathers on its tail. Not a big step, yet still made it more up to date.

As evil as Disney is their cgi fest "Dinosaur" is pretty good. You can't really go wrong when you've got Alfre Woodard and Ossie Davis attached to your project. And the little guys vs the big guy at the end was pretty good. Other than that you'd probably have to settle with the "Walking With Dinosaurs" documentaries.

Few notes: - Humans are VERY GOOD at NOT learning from their mistakes. Building a new dinosaur park with "oh, it will work out better than the last time, we are so much smarter than dumb fucks from 90s" is perfectly human thing to do. - Raptors attacked Owen because they were already in hunting mode after snack literally fell from the sky. - Cell phone coverage was noted to be shitty on the island. - Actually, Claire DOES tell Owen that INGendominus ate her sibling. - Indominus knew how to claw out the implant not because she remembered it, but because it kept shocking her. But movie apparently forgot. - Indominus no longer camouflaged because it figured it was the baddest thing on the island. - Owen listens to Hoskins' threat because he knows Hoskins is stupid enough to actually release raptors without him. - Yes, raptors do fall in line with Indomunus because it is big and scary and speaks raptor.

I know this is kinda old but I'm revisiting because I just got the Jurassic World Evolution game and got dino-hyped. Love the vid! Only note I thought to make: at 1:30 you see kids working over a miniature dig and joke about "does someone come back to recover it with dirt every few min?" We actually have that same style exhibit at my city's museum in the paleontology exhibit and it was one of my favorites as a child! The skeleton is a cast mold so no real bones are messed up and yes they do recover it with sand and let kids dig it up over and over again. It made me want to be a paleontologist as kid!
