Frankly the lawyer who thought that up is an idiot. Of course it's going to get thrown out. The idiotic part is that, there is a much better way to frame the SAME argument and make it more convincing to modern sensibilities and more importantly the law: Arne BELIEVED he was possesed by a demon. If you can show that he and those around him were religious enough to believe in things like demons and posession then whether or not possession is real no longer matters. It is, for all intents and purposes a "not guilty by reason of insanity" defence. You can easily combine religious belief with what he was going through, and mental illness to show that he wasn't in his right mind (in essence "possessed").

All horror movies should get 100 sins automatically for the unrealistic portrayal of how dim people keep lights in their home. I swear, some scenes look like they're lighting home by candlelight. And I know this movie in particular takes place back in the day, but it happens a lot in modern day movies as well. Me, personally, I have all my lights hooked up to home automation. If the alarm goes off or I say "set all lights to 100%" my apartment lights up like a plane is about to land in my backyard. If I hear a "scary noise" I don't slowly creep around my house in the dark trying to figure out what's going on. It's just unrealistic, even for people who don't have automated lighting. People turn their damn lights on so their houses don't look like caves lit only by moonlight 🤣

I knew there was going to be problems right at the first scene. Like “hey guys, I know this kid is being possessed by an evil demon but I think it would be a good idea to leave him alone in the dark in this very scary room that has creepy clown dolls in it.” And then later in the movie when the one guy was in the hospital and every time there was a hospital scene the hospital would be super dark for no reason and there would literally be no people around.
@taracori82 жыл бұрын
I believe the kid going in the bathroom was based on the real case where they watched him run into the bathroom and lock the door. Idk why they portrayed it the way they did. To make the series more memorable, they should base the movies on Ed and Lorraine's more well-known cases like the *Amityville Horror* , *A Haunting In Connecticut* and *The Southend Werewolf* . Sin 13 was a sin born of utter laziness by the props department. The Catholic church has (and to my knowledge still performs) actual exorcisms. It's a well documented thing. How hard would it have been to Google what passages are traditionally uttered during such events and have a bible on set turned to that passage? ...Movie makers are REALLY lazy sometimes. EDIT: On a whim, I just decided to look it up myself. It took 2 minutes. Apparently the Bible itself isn't what's utilized. It's a document called Of Exorcisms and Certain Supplications. (Or De Exorcismis et Supplicationibus Quibusdam in Latin if you want it to feel more ancient divine.) A further 30 seconds revealed that the book is purchasable from Books A Million for $20 USD. Hollywood really is lazy.
@wolfsden64793 жыл бұрын
Most likely lazy But 2 other options exist. 1. Info hazards of having it on screen. 2. The major exorcism can only be done my a priest (indelible spiritual mark) with the bishop allowing it. So the actor didn't do it because he wasn't allowed, and so didn't have the book. It's hollywood so why not say f it? Actor could be catholic or producer, or the consultants. But odds are urs still just laziness

About Lorraine’s Gifts not Working-- Being Psychic isn’t always 100% deep diving their mind, sometimes it’s a Spirit Guide who tells you information you overheard, and of course as she gets closer to Danger it’s going to be a lot more open with that information

The Conjuring's glorification of The Warrens is somewhat troublesome, they were the Zak Bagans of their day, seeing everything paranormal as demonic. The Conjuring goes to London, or whatever the film was called was even more problematic, their part in the Enfield Poltergeist Case was at best peripheral.
@gentblue3 жыл бұрын
Though in this one they really did have a big role in the scam and got a mentally ill killer serving a manslaughter sentence.
@999SickBoy6662 жыл бұрын
I don't entirely agree: I see the point you're making but what seems actually problematic, to me, is the fact that in this day and age we still have people willing to believe whatever crap is fed to them (be it "god", the "paranormal", ghosts, aliens, miracle treatments that makes you lose weight or enhance sexual performances etc.), thus allowing con-men like Bagans (or the Warrens) to thrive.
@mlpfanboy17012 жыл бұрын
Ive seen ghost adventures, when did he consider everything paranormal as demonic?
@Para2normal2 жыл бұрын
@@mlpfanboy1701 The last few seasons have become more and more about blaming everything on "Demons", some edgy teen has drawn a pentagram on a wall "It shows a demon is here" and so on. He has also taken to claiming anything related to paganism and witchcraft as "Black Magic" . In my own view the influence of Nick Groff stabilised the show and presented it as an actual attempt to genuinely investigate whereas now it just seems to be schlock.

I don't have much experience with demons but at a guess, a new host has more will than a host that had been possessed for a bit. That would mean it takes more time to take over.
@KumaoftheForest3 жыл бұрын
I think because he allowed the demon to possess him, as opposed to a victim fighting the demon for control
@wolfsden64793 жыл бұрын
Well avoiding exposure is important, if someone sees something unexplainable they can become very religious and demons don't want that. Also this situation is a Satanist making a deal with a higher level demon, that forces a lower level demon to possess someone, then kill someone and the host by suicide, so it's a bit weird and not official Canon of the church to my knowledge.
