For me one of the things I disliked the most was that the antagonist was a normal human being. The whole point of the conjuring universe to me is humans vs demons. I don't mind having a human that summons a demon but I have little interest in seeing human vs human in these movies. Demons are by their nature super powerful and you can do a lot of interesting and scary stuff with them as you dont need to follow any "real logic". I had sort of the same issue with Annabelle comes home. When you have such a powerful and interesting villain in Malthus, why add in more demons and ghosts? Focus on the one and explore what they can do. Adding more just muddies everything. At least that is my opinion.

I appreciated the "new" twist that was put on to this movie from Loraine's visions to the bits of comedic/light moments. However, I do see all of the missing plot points and how this movie moved in a way that was very predictable. It could just be that I've seen too many movies. But I feel like this movie was "beat by beat" easy to tell. Although my favorite parts were the contortions it was unreal!

My one complaint is we never really learn what the Occultist’s motivation was - what was she trying to accomplish with her demonic deal? This movie would have been really stupid if it weren’t for the acting of the cast, Wilson and Farmiga of course, but also the two who played Arne and Debbie especially.
@gozi313993 жыл бұрын
There was a part of the movie where the kasner mentions her daughter being around his work (on understanding the disciples of the ram). I think she read books and rituals and was fascinated with it until she started performing it and cursing people to please the summoned demon (he also mentions her interest in the tunnels where she built the altar) so I think it came from her interest in witchcraft and demonic rituals In the books her father had kept. Her accomplishment was to give the demon a soul as part of the curse (arnie)

I feel like paralleling Ilsa with Judy (both raised with demon museums) would have been awesome, what made Ilsa go that route and Judy not? Yeah wasted potential, and I agree, it just doesn't live up to the first two. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farminga *carry* this though, without them, movie would be 10x worse.

I wish theyd use a more "sophisticated" type of demon, like one you could imagine talking someone into selling their soul. I feel like a more human-looking demon would be more scary than some ghoul we've seen a hundred times before

Just watched this on HBO but missed some parts. No better place to go for a recap than here lol Eta: *spolier* why didn't Lorraine just swipe the table off instead of trying to flip it? How in the world was that lady doing so much to different people at once? What was that lady's deal with demon, and how did she choose her victims?
@dmn47473 жыл бұрын
I know it wasn't nearly as scary, but I LOVED this one, but I mean, I have mad love for ed and Lorraine and so it was just OTP all the way. I also loved the depth of Lorraine's psychic abilities....it gave her a strength that has only been alluding to until now and I really really liked seeing her as an almost superhero in a way. I am and will always be a sucker for giving sensitives their dues as often gentle but incredibly strong people.

Lorraine was a liar and ed was a pedo you really shouldint have mad love for them also these are facts so dont even try to argue
@futurelazarus82172 жыл бұрын
Also not as bad as ed cause he was very possable abusive so i could see lorraine being a victim but she let him be a pedo and was full blown aware of it so she was fucking sick freak too

My biggest gripe is that the demon didn't actually have a form, he only took on the forms of other things.

Well demons IRL dont have forms as well because they have NEVER walked the earth.They are completely inhuman and unearthly.They take forms(demon from Annabelle takes a doll to posses) and illusions.

I feel like Judy could have played a bigger role cause the big twist was the guy helping them created the monster they’re facing!! They could have showed her taking an active role and doing more research or having a skill she brings to the table
@xxPinkSwanxx3 жыл бұрын
But what if Judy didn’t even involve herself in her parent’s research on demonic possession in real life. You can’t expect them to just make up a plot or story line and it didn’t even happen?

I’d love to see you do an Ending Explained for The Number 23 with Jim Carrey It’s a real trippy movie that I utterly loved but also confused me a bit. Keep up the amazing work! :D
