Its a reboot of a 70s tv show "Fantasy Island" starring Ricardo Montablan and little person Herve Villechaize. Herve's signature line was yelling, "De plane! De plane!" everytime a new flight arrived bringing guests. Celeb guest stars would be the island guests that pay to live out some big fantasy that never turns out the way think it will. Sometimes it tirns into a nightmare. Each episode always ends with the guests learning some big life lesson.

10:51 Sloane wanting to get back with her husband might have been her fantasy/desire when she looked into the rock, but people's desires can change, especially in dramatic circumstances like the one she was in. In the face of certain death, the desire for a scenario where she has a chance of living should beat out anything else. Then again, as you've shown, the movie doesn't establish anything close to a clear set of rules, so you could really justify whatever you want here.

I saw this in the theatre and right before the movie actually started I joked about the main antagonist being Tattoo and he just snapped one day and started killing people who come to live out their fantasies but he twists the fantasies into their worst nightmare and makes them beg for death so that, in a very sick and twisted way, he's still helping them fulfill their fantasies. The timing of this is PERFECT 'cos I just watched this movie over the weekend! Honestly I think the biggest sin of all was not utilising Maggie Q's incredibly enriched action role background into this, especially with how heavy it is towards the 2nd half of the film.

This movie does not deserve so many Sins. It was very good and literally avoided things that would have been a Cinema-Sin. For example, in other movies, the one woman with the dream-of-a-family would definetly have becomes obsesses and defended the evil Island and then been killed by the protagonists in self-defense. But no, she did not. This was a very good movie, though not outstanding.

Also the reason why Sloane wasn't giving her own fantasy in the beginning, isn't she had nothing to do with the fire, and she has a direct link to Melanie, it would make it very obvious that Melanie is the mastermind, to punish Melanie too she would have to use torturing Sloane as a cover. Again, I agree it's pretty complicated, but that does make sense.
