I am VERY new and still trying to find my niche. I think i have watched 90% of your videos for inspiration!! Wish me luck, a week from today, I've rented a space for 48 hours of photography and my entire family and friends are coming to be my "models" (maybe not ideal to have non professional models, but its what i have!) Every one of the 4 scenes i have set up are variations of things I've seen on your videos! Thank you so much for your hard work!!

Awesome session. Rocked it. So many points of lighting techniques that never made sense. The way this session is done allowed me to have "ah ha" moments. Gaven you are the man. Chloe you are the "Cats Meow" . Chloe's expressions are spot on for this type of imagery. Chloe's wardrobe is perfect and classy. These images would be excellent movie posters. We could call the movie "Femme Fatal". The window blind shots would be covers for pulp fiction detective books. The way these shots are composed generates the feelings of power, confidence and control. Well done by the entire team.

Fit an extractor fan! My 20' x 10' studio has an a/c unit at one end and an extractor at the other, using both clears smoke PDQ.

Great lighting as always. You are definitely one of the best online teachers in photography. I really love what you, Sam and Freya are doing! It seems that you are in your desaturated colour phase with editing 😊 To me it looks as if Cloe is sick. In Germany we say: neither fish nor meat 😅 I think I‘d prefer a proper B&W.

Hi Gavin, nice as always!! but maybe its useful in these setting to give rough an idea of the distance the flash source has to object in the picture
@GavinHoeyАй бұрын
What you see in the videos and the various different angles I use when editing the video together should give you a pretty good idea of distance.If it helps, my studio is only 15 feet wide, so you can be sure it's less then that 😉

love the video and images.. great concept. where is that particular snoot found? cant seem to find it in the description and or on the site. I would have the typical rectangular speed light head. thanks Gavin..keep up the fantastic videos

I was trying to take low key shots yesterday, but I ran into some issues. I tried to use a light in front, with a grid so it would be a little darker, but with that on the other strobes wouldn't slave, so I ended up taking it off, which lightened the whole shot. The strobe on the left had barn doors, trying to be a hairlight. The strobe on the right I put a blue gel and aimed it at the background, but it was very pale. I find it really hard to do low key, but I'm going to keep practicing!
@GavinHoeyАй бұрын
A grid will narrow the beam of light and if your "Slave" flashes are in the shade with their optical receivers facing away from the key light they won't fire. From memory the workarounds were hit and miss. Honestly, radio transmitters are game changers 😉
@L.SpencerАй бұрын
@@GavinHoey Thank you! I was at school practicing today and it was the same thing. So, I guess pros would use transmitters on all the strobes. Makes, sense, because you need to be confident they're firing. :)
@fotogfitzfoto412Ай бұрын
Should have put an orange gel on the light through the blinds, for a street light effect - given the angle.

Is a hard light directional. And if it got harder would it be polarized and yet still harder lights get synchronized?
