Anakin was strong with the force. He had force visions but was too arrogant and took them at face value. Yoda is also very strong with the force but is wise and collected he can’t see force visions as strong as Anakin but he knows that the future is hard to see. Anakin was the chosen one and very very strong with the force so his force visions were true but his arrogance got the better of him and couldn’t see himself as the root cause of all of Padme’s and his own suffering.

I'm fairly certain it was supposed to look as if he struck Obi Wan with his light saber, however the light sabers the actors used at the time were made out of powdered glass and the actor playing Vader was instructed to not have it touch Obi Wan or his saber out of fear of the glass shattering, I'm not 100 percent sure that it's the actual reason why it doesn't physically touch Obi Wan though. I always thought Obi Wan became one with the force as he was being stuck because he said "if you strike me down...etc".

Fun fact: In the first draft of Star Wars, the action is said to take place in the 33rd century. That's why the characters are referred to as humans and why they often have Earth names and Earth cultural traits. Given the fact that the title card "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." was a late addition to the editing process that Lucas added just to shut up the science sticklers in the audience, I like to think of Star Wars as being set thousands of years in the future of our galaxy or another galaxy, one which humans colonized. Maybe these adventures take place in the 333,000th century? 🙂

Something I don't understand: If Anakin becomes a padawan, getting training from the Jedi who are essentially officers to the galaxy, let alone he is romantically involved with the freakin queen, why couldn't anyone help free Anakin's mother from being a slave.

The Jedi would of only tried to free her initially so they could recruit Anakin Since Anakin was the only one who was part of the deal, there was no reason to come back for his mother. The Jedi want you to basically forget your parents and cut emotional ties.

Three answers: * Production order: 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 * Timeline order: 1, 2, (Clone Wars) 3, (Rogue One) 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 * Machete order (probably the best): 4, 5, 1, 2, (Clone Wars) 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 Machete allows the introduction of the characters as they should be (we should be surprised to see Vader with his appearance at the beginning of 4) while not throwing you off with the production quality (grittiness vs cleanliness) by showing you the prequels before the relatively-low quality of the FX in the original trilogy. This way, the prequels act as a throwback right after we find out that Vader is Luke's father (which we should be shocked to hear in 5). Some people don't include 1 in the machete order, but you kind of need it to introduce Anakin's, Jar Jar's, and Palpatine's backstories. Also, it's unclear where Rogue One fits, unless you did something like 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, RO, 4 again, 5 again, 6, 7, 8, 9. I included Clone Wars in here because it and its accompanying TV series start setting up Anakin's emotional downfall. His relationship with Ahsoka, his Padawan not by choice, by the end of the series starts his anger, frustration, and feeling of not being in control of his life that become worse when his mother passes away. And that gets worse still involving Padme, which sets up his full downfall.
