Star Wars is a large world. When it transfers you to a galaxy far far away, you feel you really have entered a big wide galaxy. All of the places and events that happen make it feel as large as they say. And beyond that, we have quite a few different eras to choose from. From the Clone Wars to the Galactic Civilwar to the Rise of the First Order, the players may change, but the game board remains the same. In honor of a series that is so beloved by all, I want to cover all of the events within the canon series. So get into your most meditative stance my young Padawans. Let’s dive into the history of Star Wars. One quick explanation before we do though for those who don’t yet know, the Star Wars universe uses its own type of calendar. Don’t worry, the amount of days remain the same, but they do count years a little differently. While on our calendars we tend to count years using Jesus Christ’s life as a marker for what we know as BC and AD, Star Wars uses the Battle of Yavin, that is, the explosion of the First Death Star in A New Hope as their marker. That being said, the terms they use are BBY which means “Before the Battle of Yavin” and ABY which means “After the Battle of Yavin”. This quick explanation should help you keep track of the timeline. Now let’s get into it.

The fact that Grogu was born in the same year as Anakin AND is another being with unusually strong force powers that's hunted down in conjunction with said powers.......much to be pondered over, some interesting implications there. I wonder if Grogu was also a midichlorean experiment by palpatine and plagueis

The sith are thé ones that do not Haye it correctly and pervert it. Thank YOU!!! Been a Star Wars fan since my 10 year old self was waiting the equivalent of many days over multiple showings in 1977, in lineups that stretched blocks in many viewings over that summer. Must of seen it at least 20 times that summer. Sometimes parent sanctioned...other times, I'd skip school with my buddies to catch a matinee with my weekly allowance. Soundtrack blasted every radio station to disco club. Seriously, there has never been a film that has had that much excitement and pure epic public fanatic craze for it since. It was truly a phenomenon for which if you weren't there and lived it, you have no idea of that feeling. 46 years later, I've tried to keep up, but the Star Wars universe seems to expand exponentially with each passing decade. This was a brilliant synopsis in only 42 minutes.

I was 9 myself. I was born in late May so these became my birthday ritual. Saw the very first showing of the Phantom Menace in my city too. Backed off a bit after that though. Right about hype around it, you are. I doubt anything will ever spark imaginations like this story has, nothing thus far comes close. Watching some of this new stuff, in search of that feeling, I am (sequels deflated me a bit).

Great Video man 💯 🔥 thank u sm for putting in this much time to make this Video cuz I’ve been looking for an up to date Timeline, but imagine if Disney didn’t buy Star Wars & Legends wasn’t ever a thing & all those comics were still canon & video games like “force unleashed 1 & 2”. This video would prob be 3 hours long hahaha. But I’m actually starting to be happy that Disney bought Star Wars b/c they’ve actually put A LOT of effort to listen to the fans recently (RECENTLY tho lol at first they seemed like they didn’t care at all abt what we wanted *cough cough the recent movie trilogy & Letting JJ Abrams inside they’re movie set. They should’ve banned that man after the reviews came in for rise of skywalker lmfao. Anyway they’ve put in so much work/effort for these new shows & also listening to the fans to make the final szn of clone wars & stuff like that is very nice to see. Makes me excited for the upcoming movies!! That Taika watiti directed one better be good. He rly rly messed up w/ that new Thor movie like BADD. I’ve never walked out of a Mervel movie early until that one abt 3/4ths thru RIP & the fact he asked Naitile Portman if she wanted to “ever be In Star Wars” & her telling him she’s been in 3 damn movies 💀 is bad & I just hope he gets caught up on the canon storylines like they should have die hard Star Wars fans to direct these like this man seems like he doesn’t even know there was a prequel trilogy 🤦‍♂️

Loved how you laid out this timeline , learned things i didnt know and didnt realize it went that far back , one question though is the Solo movie and where it falls at 10BBY , The Falcon in its present form can be seen on Coruscant in EP 3 and George Lucas has confirmed it is the actual Falcon which just confuses the whole time line because in the same episode Yoda before his exile says goodbye to Chewy before his capture and meeting Han , i guess its just best to resign to the fact its another YT freighter and ignore the man who wrote the movie or am i missing something obvious ..

I think the M.F.'s presence in Revenge of the Sith has been retconned at this point. While it may have been Lucas's creative intention in 2005 for it to be the selfsame ship, it seems almost certain that the people currently running the lore had a different creative vision.

The saddest part of the timeline in my opinion is Padmé's death. Why did poor Padmé have to suffer? She could've lived peacefully with Anakin and their kids if he never became Vader!

@Caolán O'Chearnaigh In the real world, there are many reasons for a mothers childbirth death, but in Star Wars it's seems dumb because the world is so technically advanced you'd expect medical advancement, and they don't give an explanation. Her ending is quick. I guess no matter how great Padme was, her character was always a means to an end as the backstory to Luke and Leah, and she had to die before they grew up somehow. Another reason why the prequels are poor.

I just learned how much of a nerd I am because I knew and was frustrated by how much was missed. Eh it's cool though SWs IP is huge... but I am a bit bummed because you could do an entire 2 hour video just on The Old Republic. You did miss a lot of key baddies and major events but again its cool. Can't expect you to cover literally everything. Just maybe in the future do a timeline in each era? You can read up on all these eras online.

episode 6 takes place around 6 ABY. Boba Fett goes into the Sarlacc at that time. BoBF takes place around 9ABY meaning he spent around 3 years with the tuskens.

Wait but at the very end of Star Wars Rebels, they mentioned how they also helped in the Battle of Endor, on world as well as off world, even mentioning how Rex was on Endor in Han and Leia's squad when they blew up the base of operations for the 2nd Death Star's shield. So Rebels would be end very slightly after Return of the Jedi as well as they noted in the closing of the series finale. Also where's the Book of Boba Fett? The Obi-Wan series is on there but not Book of Boba Fett
