The Prussian army looked very different in 1806, there were some attempts to modernise but it was still very slow and inflexible compared to the highly flexible French. That Davout was able to make a mockery of an enemy many time his size is a testament to his skill and the men he commanded. Davout deserves more credit than he gets sometimes and I often what a difference he might have made at Waterloo instead of Ney.

It always amazes me how war an battle has changed thru out the years. How back then they just stood in a line an shot at each other, those were some brave men to stand there not knowing which of those bullets had their names on it. Then now it all about being sneaky and stealthy an mechanical weapons just very interesting

Marshall Davout achieved a greater success in that day, compared with Napoleon. Napoleon faced the enemy roughly in a 1:1 ratio, while Davout's people battled against the Prussians, 1 against 3.

Davout, with only his own Corps, did outstandingly well against the majority of the Prussian Army, whilst Napoleon with the majority of his Army did quite poorly against only a part of the Prussians.

@@PanzersoldatenNapoleon did trust Davout--that is why he left him in charge of Paris, rife with treacherous elements. The point I was trying to make was that Davout's tactical superiority compared with Ney might have been decisive at Waterloo. But Grouchy's dilatory pursuit of the retreating Prussians after Ligny is also in the picture.

Listen, if you're going to make videos about history, it's very important to pronounce the names of historical figures and place names correctly, otherwise it becomes difficult to follow or to take the narrator seriously. The account of these great battles is harmed by amateurish narration.
