The victory at Vienna did not stop the islamic conquest of Europe. It just slowed it down for a few hundred years.

Fine work, although IMAO: - 1:04 Indeed, most British troops wore khaki trousers, not black. Scots wore kilts. - 1:48 Egiptian rather than British troops composed the garrison at Khartoum' - 6:34 Mahdists with Zulu shields? - 9:05 Britsh officers in Wellington's attire?

How brave (or stupid) must you be to stand and face 100,000 attacking Zulus?

This battle started the whole Circle Wagons theme, that is how the Boers fought back this massive attack by the Zulus.

I think Lee would have lost against any competent aggressive general. Hooker lost it as much as Lee won. Not really bashing anything the south did. It was bold. But hooker was weak as can be.

People don’t understand that the Impi was the standard operating procedure for most of Africa. The men fought, the women looked after the households, and the children looked after the livestock. As the men were only warriors their numbers were less than those of the women so they had two or more wives. This went on for many hundreds of years creating a race of men who were fearless ,doughty warriors,as we see in the number of successful Black Boxers. The downside is that they are genetically keyed to be more aggressive and to treat women as chattels, something we in the West refuse to accept despite the evidence which is overwhelming.

Many of the Zulus were only part-time warriors. They spent most of their time hunting and farming.

I stopped watching after 49 seconds. And then I gave you a thumbs down. Because the sound was terrible. Your soundtrack was so loud it overcame your narrated voice making it impossible to watch and listen to.

Excellent commentary. It would be nice to show aerial views - so that the lay of the land, position of forces, etc. etc. is more easily discerned.

Boers had settled South Africa long before the nomadic Zulus arrived as Immigrants since no Blacks were able to cross Zambezi river before 17th Century and the only true Natives were the Sani people.

I believe that at this time, smokeless powder had not been adopted and so the logistics of the battle, through a dense cloud of gunsmoke, would surely have resembled Waterloo, with fire discipline prevailing.

It's somewhat ironic isn't it? Many British gave their lives to stop slavery, fighting against African peoples who wanted to maintain slavery and yet, many people, in the west, of African origin are incapable of realising the sacrifices the British made.
