The least anticipated sequel since Wrath of the Titans...which was also about Greek mythology. I sense a pattern here.

IMO, the Percy Jackson books should have been adapted into an animated series, with each season covering each book. Admittedly, the books aren't super-long, so each season could have some stuff added, like character arcs and such. The romances that were pushed to the side in the books, for one, and perhaps a flew flashbacks here and there that expanded on Thalia's friendship with Luke and Annabeth. You get the picture. An animated series would have also allowed them to show the full scope of how powerful certain characters are.

To be fair to the "Daughter of the god of war" thing, Ares was only able to start wars, not really finish them. ATHENA was the goddess of battle TACTICS, so having Ares's daughter go mindlessly into a battle scenario without a plan and getting her ass kicked kinda makes sense. (Although I doubt the writers of this movie put that much thought into it.)

I'd like to point out that Kronos's true form is so powerful that just standing in the same room is enough to burn a mortal/demigod alive, regardless of if you're looking or not. @@SleepySloth2705 Even then, clarisse does have at least an inkling of strategy knowledge. Hell the second book was what started peeking into other sides of her and setting her on character development, as we see ares' is a mentally abusive fuckstick and that part of clarisse's dickishness is her constantly trying to get her dad's approval, especially after ares suffered a crushing defeat by percy at the climax of the first book after almost getting away with stealing hades' helmet of shadows (basically a powerful macguffin that either lets the wearer become invisible or exude an aura of absolute terror). Let's not fucking forget that the "chariot of ares" casually mentioned by grover in this movie was a plot device used in a short story set *2-3 years after the sea of monsters that was one of the major moments showing clarisse developing as a character and showing she has emotional depth.* Again, this movie absolutely wrecked any hope of having a sequel.

To be fair with Clarisse, while Ares is the God of War he isn't so much about strategy (that's Athena) as he is about bloodshed and carnage. In fact, while he often started wars and jumped into them, the moment he got wounded he would retreat to Olympus while howling in pain. So yeah; by that logic, it actually would make sense for Clarisse to jump on the bull without a plan.
@jw83958 жыл бұрын
"What would she know about battle strategy?" That's Athena's department, specifically military strategy overall. Ares is the god of war, but he is hardly a military genius. It's been a few years since I read the first series, so correct me if i'm wrong- 1. Circe & Polyphemus lived on SEPERATE islands 2. Circe ran a Spa, using it as a modern update to her way of kidnapping and hexing people into animals 3. Annabeth played a big role in this book. Not only was she responsible for saving Percy from life as a guinea pig, I believed she helped in the escape from Polyphemus and stopping Luke from reviving Chronos early. 4. They could've easily put Scyilla's scene in here with CGI\Motion capture 5. Weren't Briares and the other Hundred Handed ones debuted in the Titan's Curse? (Tyson might've mentioned them here, but they didn't appear until the midpoint of the series). 6. Too many mythology & continuity mistakes to list. (Rick should try to reclaim the media rights & shop them around for an animated streaming series, maybe if things work out we'll get the Kane Chronicles & Heroes of Olympus adapted).

And yeah, I know Nico would have to stay at the camp for that, but instead of him running away completely they could just have him do that thing he's doing in Heroes of Olympus and travel in and out of Camp. @nathaniellawford26898 жыл бұрын
The worst thing about the sea of monsters the film, was kronos.He as far as the ledgends go required the big three to defeat him [with the help of a rebel titan] which is reflected in krono's title the lord of time as opposed to little domians like sea or sky.The books also portray kronos as extremely powerful as luke had to kill himself to scatter the titans soul before he returned to full strenght which would leave humans obliterated by his mere presence and doomed the gods. The film however presents kronos as a volanic gaint who shows no magical powers, no command over time or for that matter any sign of him being titan as oposed to a red gaint.Thus he merely resorts to grabbing his enemys with clappsing hands. Then he is defeated by a sword that appears nowhere in the myths, but apparently still kills kronos, thus metal imbuded by a limited amount of godly power along with a half-human kills a titan who's greater than any other titan and far exceeds zuez-but not a glowing sword.Truly this is the greatest sacrilege making the 3rd most powerful being in the entire greek myths, into a red gaint with horns-raaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Ok the thing about the movie that I hated was when Tyson and Percy met at a special kids school, and 3 bullys turned into big monsters with flaming cannonballs, Tyson saves Percy, they blow up school, Annabeth finds them. U know, that. But Tyson is supossed to be a mindless, almost bald, doesn't know how to talk, baby cyclops not a stupid teenager that has a whole head of hair and talks to dang much. And I thought Luke was like possesed by Kronos when he got the fleece on the tomb? Gods. Help me!
@BladeOfSteel-Sword_Saint7 жыл бұрын
The fleece has nothing to do with Luke getting possessed. Basically, what happens is that everyone who pledge allegiance to Luke's cause will give Kronos more life (That Child of Nemesis finished it in Book 4) and the golden fleece will speed it up by 10x but Percy secures it and bring it to Camp Half-Blood.

This may sound like a silly question, but the movie hammers in the camp is done for if they can't heal the barrier tree. What exactly kept the camp safe before they got it? Also, how did Luke find them? It was established you need a satyr to find the place.
@alexanderthegreat9137 жыл бұрын
Schwarzer Ritter Grover went to the island and probably was forced to tell Luke where it is
@sm4carnageihope8 жыл бұрын
Another problem not mentioned. Grover is a kid during the prologue where Thalia is killed. Grover is supposed to look a lot older than them since he's a Satyr. Consistancy, whats that?
@TheInsensitiveAsshole6 жыл бұрын
+sm4carnageihope While Grover is chronologically 28 at the start of the (book) series, its noted that the rate at which satyrs age is only half as fast as that of humans. He usually appeared to be 12-14 at most.

@krititcal7119 жыл бұрын
When Grover talks about the stolen Chariot and the Bronzes Dragon quest, those where actually in the book, The Demigod Files. But Clarisse only appeared in one of the three stories in the book. So Wtf. I understand that the directors tried to bring this series into play by fixing some of the problems from the last abomination, like Annabeth's hair, or Mr D, but its almost like they gave up and knew the series would come to a end early and just threw in the fight with Kronos. Which if you read the 5th book, he never appeared in his true form. So again, wtf.

I really don't understand the concept of making a third movie as they basically combined the rest of the books in to one,I mean Kronos already died! So why make another movie? That's the whole point in the book! Even though we somehow managed to survive through the movie.....I must say this....KRONOS WAS SUPPOSED TO USE LUKE AS A HOST BODY! NOT EAT HIM UP!
@crocuslament96805 жыл бұрын
Didn't Luke get eaten by a cyclops at the end of this? Because they can always resurrect Kronos.

This scene at 6:00 is a giant middle finger to the fans. These quests are all either chapters from the books, or short stories that took place in between the main storyline. With the exception of Ares chariot, Percy saved the day or played a big role in saving the day in all of them. And in the case of Ares Chariot, Percy and Clarisse retrieved it together, but Percy let her take all the credit so she could win some of her father's favor (seriously Ares is a terrible dad, even by godly parent standards). It's like the filmmakers want us to know that, indeed, they did read the books - and they are ignoring them completely. Nice.

In book Sea of monster. Clarisse actually lead other Heroes, she set them in battle formation. defeated one of the bulls, by damaging his leg. Slowed down it was easier to overcome. Ares is not as smart as Athena, but he knows better even when fighting and has great instincts. his children too. this is best shown by Ares's fight with Percy. where Percy thinks, he seemed to know my movements a second before I made them. What makes this movie hurt sooo bad to the fans of the books is that this is honestly one of the best books out of all 10. The first book was a bit weak, introducing us to characters and not really pushing the story along. But THIS book, the Sea of Monsters was great and they could of done soooo much with it, but instead they took a true shit on the fans. It truly was a piece Cinematic Excrement *roll credits*

I commented on this videos some time ago using someone else's account but it just came to me re-watching this that Grover was referencing the demigod files when Clarisse lost her father's chariot. Due to the fact that her brother's the gods of fear sabotage her and brought the Chariot to Staten Island Percy then told Clarisse that he would not tell anyone about the incident

7:34 - Not hard to get. 'Computer-generated Eye' EDIT: 23:35 The amusement park was actually explained in the first book as I recall. I haven't read the second book in the series yet to know about this particular movie. 28:11 Why does Annabeth not appear to recognize Thalia? Was this in the 2nd book, too? It just seems like she should remember what Thalia looked like. 2nd EDIT: Actually, maybe she *did* recognize her and was just so shocked at the moment that Thalia came back to life that all she could do was stare in surprise.
