Maqbool is an all-time classic. Joji is good on its own. You should watch the movie 'Kaliyattom' which is an adaption of Othello - and in which Suresh Gopi the MP from Thrissur and a current Minister of State of the current Govt. won the 'Bharat' national award for best actor.

Joji is but Irakal (1985) for dummies, completely stripped of is subtext, complexity and nuanced political commentary. It is known that Fahad Faasil had asked for the remake rights to Irakal, but the director of the original film, KG George refused starting that it needs no reiteration. The makers later claimed inspiration from Macbeth to evade the fact that they did go ahead and shoot their remake anyway, right down to even recreating some of the frames in the original film. Watch the 1985 film and you can see for yourself if it's closer to Irakal or Macbeth.
@gayatrim382617 күн бұрын
They basically took the story of Macbeth and the soul of Irakal and made a good fusion. But of course it ended up as an inferior version of Irakal. And that's not a diss at Joji, it's just a testament to how good Irakal was.
