There is a dialogue in this film by Ramadhir, "As long as there is Cinema...all of these stupid people will think themselves like they are hero of a film." Which speaks to a whole generation of people who lived in those small towns living on bollywood, if you look carefully everyone is copying bollywood and thinking themselves to be somekind of swaggy hero while in reality they are nothing but psycho gangsters and sociopaths with delusions of grandeur, Ramadhir didn't have any illusions of such kind, he was in high spot from the start and he knew reality and accepted it as it is but everyone except him all around him lived in generation of cinema and think themselves like they are some sort of hero, all of them get killed horribly because reality is unforgiving and you are no hero of the film, only the smartest survive amongst all the shitty people and for a long time he was one. Its really a show of ugly reality of small places that never gets told, according to my father who lived in the very bad area of old Delhi was in such a condition too back then, now most of the people whom he called friends are either dead or in Jail and only one telling the story was working as a barber about what happened to his friends. The thug they used to idolize in childhood got stabbed in his sleep as he got older...life was all kinds of brutal there...and that's the fucking national capital...imagine what kind of coverage does law have over small remote places.

This of course is a really excellent Gangater movie, set in the dangerous rural villages in the state of UP and a segment Of dangerous areas of rural india. There was a pre-cursor to this Gangster movie called “Satya” , that captured the Big city sleazy underworld of Bombay in the 80s, reminiscent of Brutsl gangsters of New York and Chicago.That’s an excellent movie too , Check out that trailer... That movie was made somewhere in the late 80s. Don’t miss “Satya”. Anura Kashyap became famous for his police procedural movie called “Black Friday” that documents the horrific Terrorist attack on Bombay where 12 bombs were set off across the city. That’s a movie worth watching too.. but that’s about how the Bombay cops caught the terrorists, not a gangster movie.

Watch haider movie. Its the best modern Shakespearean adaptation ever. Based on hamlet and tense kashmir situation of the 90s where insurgency seperatist militants were at their peak. If u know hamlet, u will apreciate that film more. Same director has made 2 other. Omkara based on othello and maqbool based on Macbeth. All of them have great actors . Try to watch all 3 only after reading those Shakespearean plays.

Dont watch gangs of wasseypur 1 and 2 on Netflix Amazon or free movie available on KZbin. They are all cut censored versions. I know that for sure. Watch it somewhere else or buy it. But not on these streaming services where its available. They have cut some great scenes and brutal kills
