Such a beautiful reaction ❤ I dont know what it is about these boys but EVERY SINGLE REACTION they reduce me to tears! I even bloody cried watching Jumanji with them! Theyre just so sincere, joyful and honestly moved by what they see. There's nothing fake or put on for the cameras, they're not showing off and you know that what you see is what you get. They really are the kind, empathetic, gentle, caring souls that they present to us.❤❤❤❤

At the end, Tom Hanks character Jim Lovell shakes the hand of real-life Jim Lovell who plays the commander of the ship that retrieves them from the water.

What makes this a great movie, besides the cast, is that it is so compelling and well acted that even people who knew the outcome were still enthralled with it.

Fun fact: The real Jim Lovell has a cameo in this movie. He plays the Captain of the ship that comes to rescue them at the end, and can be briefly seen shaking Tom Hanks' hand after they're rescued. The film makers offered to have him play an Admiral, but Lovell said: "I retired as a Captain, so a Captain I'll be." His wife, the real life Marilyn, also has a cameo in the movie. She's one of the background spectators during the launch.

I was a kid, of middle school age, when we heard about Apollo 13 having explosive type problems and loosing oxigen and I followed the news when I could. The Square filter versus the round filter problem, and possible damage to the heat shielding, was also covered by tv news casts, amongst other things. For days I sturdied myself for the worst outcome that may come at anytime, untill one day I heard that they made it back safely. I smiled and felt great relief and dreamed about the moon bases that would soon be built in the coming decade. Little did I know that the Apollo missions would not continue, but for a relative few missions beyond that, and those moon bases would not be built soon enough for me to truely realize those childhood dreams. Maybe soon, hopefully.

I was 6 years old when the true story of Apollo 13 happened, but I learned more about it as I got older. I've watched this movie more than a dozen times because it's just so good. But, to see Naveed and Mansoor watch this true piece of history was amazing. It almost felt like it was 1970 all over again, and what everyone must have felt like then...they felt true emotion and concern for the men on Apollo 13...shows how good of a movie it is. Great job guys, was glad to see how much you enjoyed it.

I’ve lived by the space center since the 1960’s and I noticed the movie shows the astronauts in Chevy corvettes. Back then they I could see they loved to drive them on A1A in Cocoa Beach and around the county. They were not shy and loved the night life and beaches of this area.

What I think of this movie is that it shows what is possible when many people work together and really give their best sincere efforts. The US is having trouble with that today, but it is good that we have these lessons from our past to remember and relearn the strength of unity and cooperation.

"Houston, we have a problem" is still a common saying here in the US and other English-speaking countries because of this movie. We say it if something goes wrong, we lose something, or we have a problem of any kind. 😂 But it can't be anything too serious, because it's more of a light-hearted, funny way of expressing that something happened. Sometimes we say it when we call someone as soon as they pick up the phone. Lol. A lot of people who are too young to have seen the film when it came out, don't know where that expression came from.

You guys prove to me that movies are a universal thing. Regardless of background culture faith etx. Humans are addicted to stories, telling them or hearing them. It’s great how cultures with little in common have the same emotional reaction to certain things. If there’s anything that unites all humans, it’s not religion, culture or anything. It’s a fascination with stories……

Little information about the making of the film. To simulate weightlessness, the crew build a set on an airplane and made hyperbolic flights to shoot the weightlessness scenes. During a hyperbolic flight, a plane climbs to a high altitude and goes into a nosedive which results in the people on board of the plane experience weightlessness. The crew, Tom, Kevin and Bill made hundreds of these flights to get the scenes needed. 😊

One reason it was such a huge concern if they would get the crew back alive was because of the Apollo 11 mission before it, which was a horror show, where a fire on board, killed the entire crew

Contrary to more recent spacecraft, they didn't have solar panels to generate electricity and used Oxygen and hydrogen reacting into fuel cells to generate it. Lack of oxygen is not just lack of oxygen to breathe but also lack of oxydizer to make electricity and lack of oxydizer for propulsion as well. It was pretty critical. For one week the entire population of Earth hold their breath back then in the hopes of them coming back safely.
