A few days after Christmas, my girlfriend, and I actually drove from Maine to see the Quickstop and the comic book shop, and we brought along my father‘s ashes because he was the one that got me in to Kevins movies when I was 10 years old at something that we shared I love for. And recently losing him to heart issues it just seemed like the right time to do it so thank you Kevin Smith.

Around the 1:00:00 mark, when his wife is talking about the movie.... THAT shit hits home for me, too. I worked in a liquor store in Baltimore for 13 years. It was there that I met my first wife. She gave me the inner strength to leave that place, and I found work at a plant nursery working with her. Best job I ever had, despite it being physically taxing. We were allowed to work together because we made a great working team. The two of us together were greater than the sum of our parts. The company recognized that. She was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, lived through a surgery and went into remission for a while... however, it came back and in 2006, she passed away with me holding her hand. (Clerks III Spoilers ahead....) When Becky showed up while Dante was visiting her grave site, that made me break down in tears. Rose, my first wife, is in a jar very near to me when I'm at my computer. Before she died, she told me that "When the time is right, I'll send you someone so that you won't be lonely for the rest of your life." Also, the number 3 surrounded Rose, so it came as no surprise that after the 3rd anniversary of her death, that an old school friend came walking back into my life. We didn't date back in school, but we were friends. This time, however, we kissed.... and magic happened. We started dating, and one night, Rose came to me in a dream. Anyone who has had this experience knows that you can tell the difference between a "normal dream" and a "visitation". It was then that Rose confirmed to me that Katina was the one she sent. It was also her 3rd visitation to me... I related to Dante in that scene at the grave side because of that experience. I'm more cynical and snarky than Randal is, normally. But that scene made tears roll down my face. Yes, I still hold the memories from my first wife, and in some ways, I hold on too tightly to her. Katina has become my second wife, and we've been married for 11 years now. 2022 was a rough year for me, mentally.... as I was very melancholic for some reason. Then this movie came along, and donkey-kicked me right in the heart. You see, Katina was born with a heart defect, and had to have surgery for it. She had that surgery right before the pandemic hit. She's doing fine, but this was her 3rd corrective surgery. There's that 3 again.... So, yeah, I consider Clerks III to be an amazing movie, and one that I will likely cry while watching every time I do watch it. I didn't get to see it in theaters, and that's probably a good thing. I'd have bawled like a baby during it, if the home video version (and my reaction to it) is any indication. Bad enough I did that in private...... but to have done it publicly..... oh, HELL no.

Thank you all for the replies! Rose was such an amazing person, and she touched everyone around her. She would leave work to go get her chemo treatments, then return to work and finish out our shift. She amazed everyone with her strength and courage to face cancer, and not complain a bit. She was the strongest person I ever met in my life, and I can't express how much she meant to me. That she sent me a woman so tolerant of me and my idiosyncrasies, still blows my mind. The "hospital scenes" in Clerks III reminded me of Katina's heart surgery, as well as my waiting in the hospital for news about Rose's cancer surgery. Especially since it happened to both Randal and Dante. The only time I left the hospital building was to go smoke a cigarette, but I never left the grounds while they were under the knife. The hospital staff also made sure that I was the first family member they saw once they were in the recovery room. One other thing to relate about Rose.... She so affected the people we worked with, that (without my knowledge), they took up a collection to purchase a memorial brick at the cancer center Rose had gotten her treatments at. Whatever the difference was between what was collected by employees, the company covered. Once the brick was in place, they presented me with a letter about the brick, and a plaque containing pictures of its placement in the Healing Garden. I visit there once in a while, just to sit there and think. Also, when Rose was deemed terminal, the company paid for her health insurance for the few months she was on home hospice, so that we didn't have to worry about an interruption in her care. That earned them my loyalty, as they weren't obligated to do that.

Dude I CRIIIIIEEEEED at the end of CLERKS III - that was shockingly beautiful, bittersweet, gorgeous. The love in Kev's films is apparent... that's what I love. I love the dude's passion, heart, and genuine nature. And SLACKER is one of my faves as well. But what a trilogy it's been with CLERKS - I was pleased with the way he wrapped that story up - it was nostalgic AND tragic yet life-affirming, love-affirming... Just genuine. I dunno how to say it better. Some filmmakers just shine through in the films they make - you can tell there's love there.

It was a shame it wasn't given a chance.

Clerks 3 hit me in the nuts really hard. Grew up with these movies. And not one till Clerk 3. Was as emotionally involved as the others. Yet it reminds you of your own life if growing up in that generation. What Kevin created was relative to everyone who was growing up at that time as a teenager to college age. Why I loved it so much. Cause we all knew someone like Jay,Silent Bob, Dante, and the others. For us it was local Taco Bell parking lot. But all of us from this generation. Can relate to it personally. Clerks 3 was the best finish to the story and it was very personal for all of us I think. Outside of Kevin and those who took part in the film/s. I admit, was first movie in a long time, since I was a kid, I cried like a little bitch by the end of it.. Where Fast Times at Ridgemont was a mirror image of a generation. Kevin's Clerks series is a reflection of a generation and how its grown in age.. Best movie ever!

I clearly remember the day I first saw Clerks. Back then we would grab 5 or 6 movies from the Hollywood Video and just check them out. I remember seeing the trailer for it on some of those tapes... so the next time at the video store I grabbed it not knowing one thing about it. I was at a friend's house smoking bowls and watching the start of the flick. I had never seen anything like it. Aside from the black and white aesthetic it just had this realness to it... like I had found some footage of real people living their lives somewhere. It didn't feel like a typical 'movie'.... it felt authentic and relatable. I felt like these guys weren't playing characters but just being themselves. It was the first and probably only time I thought making a movie myself with some friends might actually be possible. That was just the look... the other key dimension is the dialog. It sounded like how my buddies and I would talk, just random observations and gross potty humor and sex jokes. I felt like these we're people you could meet and would give you the time of day instead of being unapproachable stars. I really can't say enough about how influential this film was to me... it sparked a long obsession with independent films and the View Askew universe. Thank you so much to Kevin and everyone involved with this classic franchise. It really is a work of pure art.

For a very long time I was looking forward to another Clerks movie, I loved the first two but this was the Clerks 3 that the fans got, wow, Kevin Smith, this guy put out the most depressing sequel I've ever witnessed, my God, dude has lost his mind, did he have a brain aneurism as well, I mean damn. Clerks 2 did it right, but Clerks 3, such a disappointment.

I really liked the first two Clerks but Clerks III was sad and not very funny.
