The stakes were higher for Boromir than the rest of the fellowship, the responsibility was huge, his people lived on the front line, to everyone else, it was a growing but distant threat but to boromir it was already real, the ring preyed on this that fact, it wasn't because he was weak, its because he bore the weight of man, and in his death, he helped Aragorn realise that he was the one to bare that weight.

Well put. I think none of the other members of the Fellowship really appreciated the pressure he was under. His fall (such as it was) was not due to pride but isolation and love for his people

Said things that needed to be said... did things that needed to be done... was tempted but stayed true to the path. There should be a little piece of Boromir in everyone.

Aragorn and Frodo represent the type of ideal men we ought to try to be and probably always fail to reach. Boromir, Theoden and Sam are the type of men we could reach when at our best. Life will put us to test, it is up to us how we will react. I wish you not an easy life for you but the strength to live up to one that is worth it.

He may not be my favorite character in the trilogy, but that doesn't mean I don't see just how heavy that burden he had was. Forced into it by his father who puts him on a pedestal over his younger brother, tempted by the ring's power, scared for his people after the visions from Galadriel, he had a moment of weakness and snapped at Frodo out of desperation. Yet in the end, he put his life on the line to try and protect the Hobits despite being struck 3 times by arrows. A true hero and son of Gondor.

Boromir's death served as a sacrifice that anointed Aragorn as King...
@rightmunted7538Ай бұрын
All of the fellowship never saw the horrors of Mordor, only Aragorn had fought on the front lines before fellowship. But Boromir was the only one among them who fought the forces of Sauron directly. He lived his entire life leading his people in a war they had no chance of winning, all the hope of a Kingdom doomed to not last another generation placed on his shoulders. Despite him spending his life crushed by the responsibility of leading the most important war on Earth, he died protecting two "insignificant" halflings. If Aragorn is what all men should strive to be, Boromir is what only the best of us realistically could be.

The film version goes way beyond reality. It really does the dirty on both Denethor and Boromir. We as readers should follow Frodo and be more merciful. Especially to Denethor.
