I’m so glad to see you use the proper measuring tools. You used the liquid measuring cup instead of the dry ingredient measuring cup. People don’t realize that there is a difference and using the wrong one can affect the outcome of your recipe. Watching cooking shows where they use the wrong tool with the ingredients has been a pet peeve of mine. I guess It goes back to when I was in High School. In my Home Economics class my teacher would give you a low grade for not using the right tool. I learned my lesson quickly 😂😂😂😂

So which measuring cup is for the dry and which is for liquid and how do you know the difference? I was never taught there was one for liquid and one for dry.

@ liquids are usually the glass ones that give you measurements in ounces and cups such as 8 ounces or 4 ounces etc. Dry ingredient’s are measured in the plastic or metal ones that usually come in a set ie cup, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4. Etc.

Hi Tom and Melissa! Happy new year. These cinnamon chip scones are my husbands favorite! I make them when I can with almost the same recipe. There’s a few little changes. There’s ground cinnamon in the mix and about half a bag of the chips. Also, I don’t keep it together as a disc on the cookie sheet. Spreading them out creates more…….crispy edges. We like that!! I just finished making these little bites of pure joy, they are as good as you say. I had no chips of any kind, so I used raisins and brushed the top with milk, then sprinkled lightly with a cinnamon/sugar mixture, it was a winning combination for me. Next time, and there will be a next time, I will use half raisins and half walnuts for the mix-in. I also chose to bake mine with the edges touching, as I prefer it a bit softer on the cut sides. Thank you for sharing this simple but delicious recipe.

I bet these would be fantastic with a cream cheese glaze. Cinnamon and cream cheese are a wonderful combination. I make blueberry scones fairly often and shape the dough into a rectangle, cut onto 4 squares, then cut the squares in half diagonally to make 8 triangles. I leave them touching in the rectangular shape to bake. They seem to bake more evenly for me that way than in the disc shape. I do separate them before glazing.

My niece and her husband were missionaries in England for about 10 years, and she got me started making scones, and they are so good. She said they are not supposed to be sweet but she would serve them with cream cheese and strawberry preserves and of course tea. I bet those cinnamon ones would be good with a cup of tea. Sybil, your niece is correct that in England the scones are more like biscuits. They are not sweet. However, as you noticed, they do serve them with jams and jellies, which then makes them sweet. Kim, my bowl very well may have come from Kmart as well. I’ve had it for well over 30 years and can’t remember where it came from. It is one of my very favorite mixing bowls because of its handle and pouring spout. It’s just a great size bowl and easy to use.

When I make scones, I move my disk onto my parchment and then I cut them. It just seems to be easier for me but like you I also keep mine together so they rise better. Like you I love scones. They’re just so much more tender than a biscuit. I have never seen the cinnamon chips before. Did you get them at Walmart? I got my silicone mat from Aldi a few years ago and I don’t know what I would do without it and my bench scraper. I love your cook book. I just got it for Christmas.

Hello Tom & Melissa - subscriber Linda - thank you very much Linda for this recipe. Tom & Melissa thank you for sharing this recipe. It looks absolutely delicious! I will need to try this one. We have had 2 nights & a day & half of freezing rain & ice pellets with crazy wind! About 2:30 am Sunday morning the snow started in central Kansas. We now have a feels like - 5 degrees wind chill with 11 degrees F & plenty of snow . News forecast says wind should stop by 4 to 5 am.

We have about 6 to 7 inches of snow and have gotten a quarter of an inch of ice on top of that. It has stopped for the moment, but the forecast says it will restart during the night. This is not my favorite weather!

I think if the cinnamon chocolate chip scones can't be found, I will just use regular chocolate chips with cinnamon in the mix. Fun fact, you can't find full fat buttermilk in the western states of the US. 2% is the standard. Love this recipe. Thanks to the subscriber! 🍪

Katie, I have had that blue bowl for at least 40 years, maybe longer. It’s a fabulous bowl because of its handle and spout. The brand that is printed on the bottom of the bowl is Shamrock-Neatway.

Cinnamon tends to give me heartburn. I love it though. I usually only use 1/2 what is called for when using ground cinnamon.

I’m sorry about that, Tina. It might be best to substitute chocolate chips or butterscotch chips in place of the cinnamon chips.
