I can't believe it. You just taught me how to play this song. A childhood dream come true. And I can sort of even play it, though, not even distortion can hide my multitude of sins... As I was watching your video I got to wondering what it was like for Neil Young to write it... Your lessons lead me to a much deeper appreciation of what it took to invent these cultural landmarks... And, as always, your incredible understanding of them and ability to translate them is the portal... gratitude to you.

Been playing guitar since garage band club days, and I hate social media posting, but you are gifted with an amazing ear and command of the fretboard, and have solid rhythm playing, such a under appreciated skill in this era of shredders. May I ask you who where your influences? And thank you for bringing back great memories and motivating many of us out there to keep the fire.

The Truth Hey, man. Am new to guitar (+- 1 year) and my focus is rhythm guitar but have found it really difficult to find stuff that gets into the details of the art. I'm not necessarily talking about time, accenting and dynamics but the finer details of harmony and melody while strumming. In other words, tone choice while strumming instead of just indiscriminate strumming of all strings or the garden variety string grouping on the beat and the off-beat. This JJ guy recently posted something precisely along those lines but I was wondering if you could turn me on to anything similar as we share the same interest for rhythm guitar and you are more experienced than I am. If not, could you suggest a few rhythm guitarists a novice like me might benefit from studying? I understand you aren't into social media posting but any insight would be appreciated. I'd ask this JJ guy but, as he used to have another even more popular channel, he's probably flooded with all types of questions. I mean, I understand that fundamentally it is a question of developing your ear while listening and while playing so that you can be more discriminate in tone choice as technique improves but just wondered if there might be some useful guidelines...

Before garage..there were those guys. You know, the guys in your neighbirhood who guarded the Holy Grail guitar licks to the death. You, James, are not one of those guys. You gracefully share your skill and I dig it.
