Good morning, Sunshine! Thank you for the further review of the yarn spindle thingys. Im glad they work so well! I did not know about how your Amazon shop works. I, too, bought one of those hook caddy book thingys and I love it! I dont have as many hooks as you do but I discovered you can put small scissors, tape measures that you fold up, tubes to hold the needles to weave ends, into those places where you put hooks. So my caddy has extra things in the back. And that story about the truck scared me! My grandfather was a produce hauler in the 1930s and 1940s. Back then, there werent as many highways and many roads were poorly maintained. He drove from coast to coast and even down into Mexico. When my mom was small he would take her and my grandmother with him on trips. His trucking career ended when he had an accident in Arkansas and his wife and my mother lived in Dallas. His truck had something go wrong that caused him to pull over and stop in the mountains of Arkansas. When he got out to figure out what was wrong with his truck, he walked around the back. It was getting dark and he stepped over the edge of the road and fell down the mountain, sustaining a skull fracture. After my grandmother got a telegram about the accident, arrangements were made to get him stable in a hospital until he could be transported by ambulance, hundreds of miles from Fayetteville, Arkansas to Dallas, Texas. After he recovered, they bought a farm and he retired from trucking. So, Im glad all yall got from the scary episode was jangled nerves, stress and fatigue. It could have ended very badly!

I was too nervous to say in the last video but I just use the cheapest option you can get. I use a paper towel holder from dollar tree. I can't spin it but I pull it from the top.

I first got the Wool Genie and absolutely LOVED IT!!!! - I say loved because, unfortunately, since it is made of plastic - my kids decided to "play" with the wand portion and broke it. So for replacement, I bought one of these wooden ones. While I do like it - here are my comparisons between the two...if you don't travel with with your projects and you mainly crochet from home - then the wooden ones from Amazon work fine. If you're like me that like to travel with your WIPS.....I much prefer the Wool Genie simply for it's ease of portability. Once your assemble the wood ones - that's pretty much it - You can't break it down unless you screw/unscrew every time - let's be honest - I ain't got time for that. So if you put it in a bag - you have to be careful nothing heavy gets on the neck that could break it. The Wool Genie does let you take the neck off the base. This allows you to use minimal space and put it in a smaller pocket. Plus I noticed that the magnet swings much more freely /smoother than the wooden one. Either way -these are game changers. I so love my gadgets. I suggest getting multiple spindles to get more use. Also if you use a lot of luxury yarn, the fibers can be damaged by center pulling.

This has been both surprising and very helpful. I wouldn’t have considered getting one, but I would now. I bought 2 matching cakes for a shawl. It’s almost impossible to get the yarn from the center of one, so a yarn holder like one of these would be fantastic.

My uncle and my brother both drive truck. But the truckers are not all good on the road. We had one driving back from Arkansas. Try to run us off the road by shining a light in our face. And he did it to everybody that tried to pass him. We got off of the next exit, and there was a cop. But we didn't say nothing. We just went to the bathroom and got what we needed and left. I should have reported him. That is going to kill somebody. Shining a light in their face when you're trying to pass him. And I was always told, you know, you pass the trucker as fast as you can, because if their tires blow You're a goner, thank you for sharing.

I like the novelty of the magnetic holder, though I sometimes use a vintage paper towel holder, which is heavy wood, and stable. Also, a ceramic yarn bowl. But mostly, I use a project bag and outer pull. Thanks Jen🧶

My son in law is a trucker. A hard working family man. It definitely takes a toll on the body. He has had to go to only trucking in state in MI now because long haul was too much on his body. I agree, traveling is a lot on the body. I can go about 8 hours at a time, much more than that I am a mess! Oh that is scary about what that truck driver did to you. I had that happen in Fort Worth, TX last year on the interstate. I ended up getting off the freeway because I was so scared he was going to crush us. Have a great day! I’m always terrified of truckers. One almost killed my cousin when she was pregnant. She was severely injured and almost died, but thankfully her and the baby survived. I know there are good truckers but nowadays it seems the bad out way the good. So when I’m driving I do everything I can to stay away from them. I also prefer to be behind them because like you said they can’t stop very fast because of all the weight they are hauling. One time I had a bad experience with a trucker I had my kids in the car with me. I was on the highway driving in the far right lane because my exit was coming up. There was a semi-truck in the left lane next to me and he decided he needed to take the exit right as we came up to it. He ran me off the highway cutting right in front of me to exit immediately. Thankfully there was grass right there were he ran me off. If he would’ve done that the next exit up we would’ve went flying because there was no grass/land there. We would’ve fell a good distance down and probably would’ve died. So those are the reasons I do everything I can to stay away from truckers. You never know if they are good or bad. Anyways ever since you got the yarn holders I’ve been thinking about getting one. All my life (since I was 8, now 57)I have pulled from the outside, I never knew about center pull until I started watching KZbin. So after I saw someone center pull my next project I gave it a try. I liked it up until the skein started falling in on itself, but I liked the fact that it didn’t go rolling all around, it stayed where I put it. I’m definitely going to take a look at the two that you got and possibly get one of them. Thank you for the information about them and for sharing what happened to y’all on the highway driving. As a trucker, I am absolutely sorry this happened to you. In the trucker’s defense basically the right side (passenger) is a complete blindside for them- regardless of the length of the truck. Even the smaller day cab trucks also have blindsides. We are taught to use blinkers far enough in advance of changing lanes -exits-etc. Not everyone knows this and again, I am so sorry this happened. We definitely do not intentionally try to be in or cause alarm on the roads. We want to go home to our families too. Hugs.

@@TruckinCrochet the thing is thiss trucker came up from behind me in the left lane so he knew I was there. I’ve always known about blind spots for truckers and I never pass a trucker on the right side if I can help it. I knew about the blind spots because my mom dated a trucker. I’m always polite to truckers because I understand y’all are hauling a heavy load and those trucks are huge. I even flash my lights to let a truckers know they are clear to get over in the lane I’m in. Anyways like I said I know not all truckers are bad, I’ve known quite a few truckers in my life. But it really does seem that nowadays there are more bad ones than good ones on the road. Thank you for being a trucker. I know it’s not an easy job but you are appreciated.

I have the single one and now I think I need the double one lol. Mine is great. I’m making a blanket with red heart stripes and it works wonderfully. I know you can’t use that yarn but mine is squishy. This is the first time I could stand red heart, i tried ombré and it was so stiff, would have made a beautiful shawl though. I’m glad you’re making use of both of those yarn holders.

Until my BFF had a stroke in February, her hubby was a long haul trucker.... He retired when she came home from rehab. I always slow so a truck can get in front of me, flash my brights so they know it's safe to change lanes. He's working, I'm just traveling.

Hello Jen🙏❤️. Glad you made it safe and people out on the roads can definitely be absolutely crazy drivers. It happens here a lot in Florida on a daily basis and not even on a highway either. I have a feeling the the truck diver saw there were two females and that is why he acted like a jerk and also thankfully he didn’t hurt you too. You surly had your Angels watching over you. I don’t know much about home schooling but, as long as you do it and probably do so many hours, are you aloud to take days off and still get the amount of schooling for Little Man to be able to stay on track with how learning? Loved the yarn tidbit too and those tools sure do look so cool and definitely would make ones life so much easier when they are doing a blanket of whatever. I have a cheap $9 one I got on Amazon. I got it for the sole purpose of cotton cones. It falls over every time. The cotton cones are too heavy for it. And its worse on the dollar tree paper towel holder. My husband said he's going to attempt to make me something. My step dad was a truck driver. They say statistically, NC I95 and I85 is the deadliest and most dangerous section of 95 and 85. We literally live on one of the overpass roads, less than a half mile from 95. We see life flights at least once a week. The church yard across the street from us is one of their landing zones.

The last time I tried centre pulling a ball for a project was for a blanket. I wasn’t able to find the outer end, so I pulled from the middle. Never again will I do this to myself cause I ended up having to untangle almost the whole entire ball as I went because it was a tangled mess from start to finish. I almost didn’t even want to finish the blanket cause I was so frustrated and I ended up cutting it in some places. 😂

Until I started watching Knitting😊 and Crochet on Utube etc I had never heard of Centre Pull.😮. I have tried it and find it good for cakes. But the magnetic spindle is great especially if you are used to outside pull. It seems to be gentle on my arthritic painful joints. So thank you to the spindle for designer 🙏 Strangely I love to hand wind yarns. I find it therapeutic. I don't think Amazon UK registers your affiliate links, Sorry 😞 sorry. Love Lynne xxx

Hey Jen 😀 The trucker probably waved at Juju because he thought she was cute, they do that trying to flirt. My ex-husband was a truck driver, I spent many an hour on the road with him, listening to the CB of the truckers talking back and forth with each other as they drive, saying Oh look in such in such car she's a cutie and stuff like that! Their actual terminology is "check out the seat covers in that car" referring to the girl sitting in the seat. If you know their lingo, some of the stuff you hear over that CB is crazy! lol. I heard a woman talking about popcorn and ask him what the heck she was talking about is she selling popcorn? He said no that's not what she's selling! lol She was a hooker and I don't mean she crochets!! It was code so she didn't get busted! Their term for them is "Lot Lizard". Now this has been over 20 years ago, but I doubt much has changed. Now why he raced up on you, that I don't know unless he's just and "A-hole",which there are a lot of them out there, but there is also a good bit of Nice fellas too. Glad you 3 are ok and safe!!! I am considering the double spinning one. I know you said that Krista at The Secret Yarnery uses hers on her bed gives me hope. My favorite crochet nook is the couch and ottoman. They are both soft surfaces and my concern is they will fall over with the smallest amount of resistance. 🤔 Anyone have experience with this? Thx for answering some questions I have, Jen! 😊👍🧶

EASY YARN BALL HOLDER: No Yarn ball holder? No problem if you've got a good sized cooking pot with open handles on the sides and a removable ring such as a large hinged key chain ring, carabiner hook with spring closure, or a closed shower curtain ring that will fit over the pot handle. INSTRUCTIONS: Attach ring/carabiner to pot handle and close the ring. Place yarn ball inside pot, feed yarn through closed ring that is attached to pot handle. Problem solved! 😘 [NOTE: You can use pot without attached ring, but realize that once you've fed the yarn through the handle, you will have to either cut the yarn or unravel the yarn ball to remove the yarn from the pot handle when working on a project]. 😊
