Sweet Potato it isn’t about spoiling, it’s about treating them like what they are, human beings that deserve as much respect as everyone else, you wouldn’t want them treating you like that so why should you do that? you can just calmly explain how things work to them, it’s not like you are going to say that the world is a perfect place all rainbows, you don’t need to hurt and scream at them so that they understand how things work, and even if the world proves it to be too much for them, which maybe will do, it’s still your job as a parent to be there, when they become adults they don’t stop being your child and they won’t suddenly get all the knowledge and experience, so it’s still your job to keep guiding them with patience and love, they deserve to have a place where they feel accepted, loved and understood and this place should be with their parents, so that they can keep standing up against a world like this, if they don’t have a parent they can’t trust (because most likely will scream at them and maybe even hurt) then they don’t have anyone else and then they will crumble against the world. (Of course this place of love and support can also come from other people in the family, friends and a special one)

When they showed the ages of the husband and wife, I was actually pretty surprised. The mother does not look 28 and the father doesn't look 45. In my experience, that actually says a lot about how the house hold chaos is handled. The mother is there to rangle their seven children; listen to the fighting, the screaming, the yelling, the cursing, the actual chaos. She actually looks very tired and I highly doubt she has enough time to herself to use the bathroom or have five seconds where someone isn't yelling. The father on the other hand, looks rather... well rested, clean shaven, dressed reasonably well for someone who lives in that chaos. Which means... he is gone most of the time, leaving his wife to handle the bubbling of that crockpot of hell. He really should have stepped up to the plate long before they had to call Nanny Jo. He could have hired the mother some help. Aren't the older children in school? That would have been 8-10 hours right there without a huge amount of chaos for the mom to deal with. The schedule was a good idea and I'm surprised that a military man didn't already have his family on a schedule. I have to agree with a comment... the mother was basically a single parent most of the time and dad was all too happy to leave for Afganistan.

Eve Alution 🤗 I completely agree, it could have been either a tv or computer. But there are two reasons I think it’s a TV. There is no keyboard or mouse, or modem attached that thing. And my main reason for believing it is just the TV is because this episode is from 2006. In 2006, My mom was at a pretty high level of her job and worked with computers (she had since I was born and still continues to work with them), yet we still only had a computer in the living room. Now this was also the days of AOL, and when parents believed you should be outside more than inside. So the likelihood of these extremely young kids having their own computer in their room is slim. But it would make sense for them to put a TV in their room. It’s also facing the bed of the kids. Like she puts it on and expects them to fall asleep to it. Especially since the mother doesn’t seem to really interact with her children that much. But I could be completely wrong, and it could be just some monitors sitting on a desk. Idk 😂
@Kitty-Marks4 жыл бұрын
@@ChloelnWonderland yeah my thought was it was just a monitor laying around. The house was slightly disheveled but you are right, it has to be a TV. Doesn't make much sense and the kids were to young in that room for a computer.

I agree. The parents are a big part of why the kids act the way they do. It is proven in psychology that the way people grow up, and what kind of person they become, has a lot to do with how they were raised as children. It actually worries me that these children were abusing each other, because it makes me feel like the mother did more than just yelling at them. For all anyone knows, there could also be an abusive dynamic between the parents too. I think there needs to be more than a "Super Nanny" to fix the dynamic. I think they need to seek regular and professional counselling.

I agree, however supernany is also a licensed psychologist other then just teach the parents how to teach their children she often times gives counseling to the parents in most episodes, however in the limited span of a few weeks she can only do as best she can to set them on the right path.

I grew up in a military family. 4 boys, 9 girls. Mormon+Polynesian family so that explains why my parents felt compelled to have a big family. My father was always away but my mother gave us roles and chores to do everyday. Our house was always functioning, but we could have unexpected guests and invite them in. Our house was never really dirty. If you brought out a toy or a puzzle, you put it right back when you're done. My mother made certain of it. The majority of what my mother did was deep cleaning, folding clothes and making meals. We did everything else like tidying up, vacuuming, mopping, doing dishes and putting clothes in drawers and closets plus our own personal hygiene. Why parents think they need to do everything for their child is where the stress can come from. Every other large family I've seen that's successful usually has living habits close to ours.

When kids curse this much, it's really just a reflection of their home life.
@okayolek4 жыл бұрын
True but not always. I've got a cousin with the most toxic mother and father that communicate exclusively in curse words and now he's expressing his feeling by replicating his parents' sentences which is truly hard to listen to. My own mother was the same while she was with her ex husband. After they split up, it all stopped and since my little brother was born he never cursed at home, even when he was throwing tantrums. Me, on the other hand, I was growing up in a household with my mother and her ex, who where constantly at each other throats. Still, I knew what they were saying was aggressive, mean and those words hurt so I never wanted to repeat it at home because I didn't want to offend anyone. Kids can grow up in shitty homes and still come out proper. It all comes down to learning early what's considered normal and what's abusive. And it also depends on your personality. I was outgoing with friends but passive at home to avoid getting mixed with the mess that was my parents approach to parenting and how to act in a relationship. While my cousin won't take shit and he perfectly expresses it through cursing.

Even if that was impossible, he didn’t even provide any advice, ideas, support for his wife. Supernanny had to come in and suggest a simple timetable. The “sergeant” in him could have done that, and implemented various structures to help his wife with handling all of their kids.
