Machines of Our Disgrace marks the 5th full-length studio album for industrial music pioneer Circle of Dust, after a near 20 year hiatus. Created by artist/producer Klayton, best known for his multi-genre project Celldweller, Circle of Dust returns to Klayton’s industrial roots with metal riffs, pulsing electronics and catchy songwriting.
Klayton pushes the envelope of fusing modern metal and electronic production with gritty industrial noise & samples on Machines of Our Disgrace, while incorporating both aggressive and melodic vocals with thought provoking lyrics about man’s technological evolution. Songs like “Contagion” and the title track “Machines of Our Disgrace” question our relationship with technology while “alt_Human” and “Neurachem” explore the world of biohacking and genetic modification. The tracks “Hive Mind” and “Humanarchy” provide commentary on man’s place in modern society’s political and scientific moral ambiguity. The emotionally charged “Outside In” shows Klayton’s softer side in a heart-gripping track with lush harmonies, acoustic guitars, pulsing sound design and introspective lyrics.

Holy shit this is faster than the original era. You got peers in Grigori 3 where they too came out of thrash they do solos on their second release. Even more pissed off than Brainchild the pace is lot faster as you also combined speed metal in with the riffing as thrash shows up in this like Brainchild in the 1990s. This album is much darker than the other Circle of Dust releases. Skinny Puppy collaborating with Vio-lence and Voivod. I was blown away how you made the distorted vocals echo as it reminds me of Ozzy on Sabbath Bloody Sabbath with A National Acrobat. When I was trying to form a thrash metal band in the 1990s I wanted to combine Circle of Dust style industrial with Testament and Tool styled heavy metal. I was trying to recruit Mode and Bambi of Fashion Bomb for a thrash metal band as Acid told me both of them were not trained to play thrash as Mode is a nu-metal guitarist as he does the stop-go playing. When I solo the thing I do is make it sound like a UFO landing by combining pick sweeps and finger taping then Slayer meets Voivod speed -- I was influenced equally by 1970s Metal as I was by underground 80s metal. In 1996 Wheaton, Illinois, the guitarists wanted to be more like Whitecross and Bride. They were scared of ideas of combining Testament style thrash with Tool style Progressive Metal as they both carry dark themes. I wanted to explore frightening subject matter as I wanted to scare everyone. Circle of Dust in the 1990s was second wave of scary metal along with Tourniquet and Iced Earth as they had scary lyrics in the 1990s.
