@alfredagain8 жыл бұрын
Yes. I was at school when this series aired. I don't remember it becoming Circle of Fear, and dropping the Sebastian Cabot introductions. Maybe they only screened the Ghost Story episodes here down under.
@kainnosgoth73368 жыл бұрын
alfredagain It's possible they only screened the Ghost Story stories in Australia. As for me, I must admit that I may have it wrong-Ghost Story might have been AFTER Circle Of Fear. In any case, I have many great memories of watching C.O.F. and Ghost Story with my mom and dad and sometimes my uncle when mom and dad weren't around. Did you know that Circle Of Fear was produced by William Castle? He was the producer of a string of late 50's-early 60's horror hits. He did House On Haunted Hill (1958) and "The Tingler", "Strait Jacket", "Mr. Sardonicus", "I Saw What You Did" and "The Night Walker" He also had a part in one Circle Of Fear episode, as the owner of a now defunct horror movie lot. Good episode, that one.
@alfredagain8 жыл бұрын
No, you're right first time, actually, according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb). Generally, it's regarded that the show suffered after "Ghost Story" became "Circle of Fear" but I love them all. After "Ghost Story", it seems the supernatural aspects broadened into other phenomena such as vampires, ancient gods, etc.. Yes, I saw the episode with William Castle in it, courtesy of our ghostly host here. I enjoyed it too, though it seems it's not one of the higher regarded episodes. Interesting cast all round, with Jon Astin from "The Addams Family" and his real wife, the famed Patty Duke.
@kainnosgoth73368 жыл бұрын
alfredagain Right, John and Patty Duke Astin were also in that one, I forgot to mention it. They were going to have a baby and the baby's life was threatened by the demons of Astin's past. What a great idea to have William Castle in the episode, though! he was such a cool guy! For a short time John Astin was The Riddler on the Batman TV series as well. Frank Gorshin did it WAY better though, with that insane laugh of his. He used to laugh until he was red in the face!

IMO, 'Earth, Air, Fire and Water' is way more bizarre, almost psychedelic.

First broadcast on February 2, 1973, "Legion Of Demons" from NBC's "CIRCLE OF FEAR" (formerly "GHOST STORY", which ran for 14 episodes before being rebranded, and hosted by Sabastian Cabot), was written by Anthony Lawrence, who also created "THE SIXTH SENSE" for ABC and Universal in 1972, and also wrote "The Man Who Was Never Born", a 1963 episode of ABC's "THE OUTER LIMITS", which Shirley Knight also co-starred in. opposite Martin Landau. The other players in this episode were Neva Patterson, who later worked on NBC's "V" miniseries in 1983, and its sequel, "V-THE FINAL BATTLE" in 1984, before it became the 1984-85 NBC series, and James Luisi, who later worked in the movie, "STAR 80" (1983), which Neva Patterson also co-starred in, based on the tragic life of Playboy centerfold, Dorothy Stratten. The 1972-73 NBC series from Screen Gems, the former TV subsidiary of Columbia Pictures Industries (before being sold to SONY in 1989), was originally executive produced by William Castle, and the rebranded "CIRCLE OF FEAR" was created by Richard Matheson.

Nowadays you don't get any of that. Instead they give you an umbrella, sweatshirt, hat and keychain emblazed with the company logo. So you can feel like part of the team while giving the company free advertising...

A very clichéd role for Shirley Knight: the chaste, jittery damsel in distress, complete with the silly flailing arm run. However, I really enjoyed the story. Thanks again.

In my opinion, the 70s and 80s had much better t.v than nowadays. Why are there so many programs today that have characters brandishing guns so much and graphic violence and other bad scenes? T.V shows today are also pushing weird agendas and have too much dialogue and drama. They lack the subtlety of more innocent times.
@cynthialyman26366 жыл бұрын
That's because our world is no longer subtle or nuanced and people hyped up on electronica need something slammed over their heads for anything to sink in?
@Tracymmo5 жыл бұрын
Do you know that you are commenting on a movie about a satanic cult making human sacrifices? Yeah, it's all kind of subtle and non-violent. And not weird. WFT?! LOL!
@paulchristman24565 жыл бұрын
Alan Linnell Well now, for ONE thing, back when westerns dominated the boob tube, characters brandished guns with the ease and nonchalance with which people whip out their holsters full of bank cards 'n such today. And as far as promoting weird agendas goes, may we assume from your comment that you find occultism to be downright mundane?
@alanlinnell68175 жыл бұрын
@@Tracymmo Uh oh, I made a blind review of this episode without watching any of it. Bad example, I don't like these types of episodes or anything with violence, just the other haunting-type suspenseful episodes. This one is too much like real life, this stuff really goes on in an organized manner by many of the so-called "elites". A deceased ex-FBI agent named Ted Gunderson used to talk about Satanic Ritual Sacrifice and abuse which is portrayed in this episode. He has several presentations here on youtube, I would watch them before they get taken down or suppressed by Google.
@alanlinnell68175 жыл бұрын
@@paulchristman2456 Yeah, do you know all the tv shows today that show characters with their guns ready as they break down the doors of assorted criminals,spies, and assorted weirdos of the week? Have you also noticed all the programs that are promoting constant war, Islam, big brother, "transgenderism", "order out of chaos", and hypocritical discrimination based on someone's skin color. I didn't watch the above episode "Legion of Demons", I should have watched it before I opened my mouth. This episode is too much like what is going on in the so-called "elite" circles of actors, politicians, judges, and other "pillars of the community".

You know you've been hit with the black magic whammy when the High Priest Toad with his ceremonial cloak shows up, lol! I see where the creators of the 1st Silent Hill video game got some of their ideas from like the appearing and disappearing 13th floor.
