Hi everyone ! First, thank you all for watching, and for the positive feedbacks ! I hope it will help you understand this technique, and that you'll find new ideas and cool stuff to work with ! Just to be clear, i do NOT say this is the perfect right hand technique. It is just a "tool" that is very handy in some cases, but not the best option in others, so don't worry if you can't play it for some reasons, there are many more ways to pick. Just have fun, do your best, and enjoy playing, because guitar is a beautiful thing, and it should make you feel good. Cheers !

You first showed the picking in the lick as d, u, d, d, but then proceeded to play it not only starting on a different note but using full alternate picking instead. It was very confusing, I had to watch at 0.25 speed to figure out what was happening, and saw that the lowest note was an upstroke and not a downstroke like you were demonstrating slowly. And you don't even demonstrate the whole lick, you show four notes, like it's a 4/4 thing, but then you loop it by adding two extra notes and it becomes a triplet/sextuplet thing. I mean, you're obviously an amazing guitarist, but as an instructional video this is pretty bad. Just imagine a complete beginner player sees this and tries to figure it out. They're likely going to get frustrated and discouraged.

@@grannywalter Hi, you are right, as a few other people mentionned, the fast part is indeed alternate picking, but the main focus of this video is still circle picking, so the second part behing alternate picking is not a big deal, since I feel it is not what people are looking for when watching this. But I understand it can be deceiving, and I'm really sorry for that. This video was not meant to be an instructionnal video, just some kind of not serious flex/private joke for my guitarists friends on facebook, but I uploaded it on KZbin without thinking too much about it, and now 6 years later it's blowing up. I will upload a more accurate and detailed video, until then I hope you still found something interesting with this one. cheers !

Both techniques are used bro, even theres more. When u are a player of long timed presentations you have to be smart in the use of your playing duration. If you just use 1 way you will get tired at middle of a concert, so you have to use more attack variations to keep playing without getting tired of any attack mode. fingers, forearm, whrist they are all used to build your total stamina.

salut ! étant fan d'ohumra j'ai essayé d'apprendre le circle picking à sa manière sans vraiment y arriver. je ne comprends pas vraiment le moment si tu as quelques explications je suis preneur.
@LemonheadFr2 жыл бұрын
Salut ! Si tu as d'autres questions n'hésite pas

@LemonheadFr8 жыл бұрын
Hello ! That's it, the picking motion comes from your index finger and your thumb, not from your wrist. It's kinda hard to explain without showing, but here is a link to a video from Takayoshi Ohmura, he is well known for his perfect circle picking technique: /watch?v=uGbMEPhl7rg skip to 5:05, or 7:13 for the english version. Cheers !

i embraced economy+finger flicking(circular picking) since i started playing last year(basically seeing how malmsteen picks effortlessly),but what caught my attention was micheal angelo batio saying that doing that will just slow you down and it's pointless anyway thank you for the advice,and love takayoshi btw :D
@LemonheadFr8 жыл бұрын
Yes some guitarists like Michael Angelo and Rusty Cooley don't think this is a proper technique... I think it's about what works best for you, once you find it you just stick to it and practice. It also depends on what lick you play, I like wrist/alternate picking for old school shredding, and circle/economy for smooth jazz fusion licks.
