Let's circle the left knee (moving out and around) as we change directions in the golf swing! Proper leg action and golf hip turn awaits.
🔑🌪️ Milo's 5 KEYS to a Rotational Golf Swing: milolinesgolf....
By properly using the legs in the golf swing, this action will set up rotation keep our left hip inside our ankle (a topic you have seen me cover before to cure sway and slide). As I work into the golf downswing, I like to feel as though my knees flex and widen out with the pressure falling into my left foot. Maybe you've also seen my Sam Snead squat videos on this topic? Watch the whole video as we discuss a couple parts that run in tandem with this subject. Enjoy!

Good stuff! This definitely helps sequencing as well and gets the lower body moving first. You start swinging with your legs instead of throwing your hands.

You're the best Milo! Rotate around the trail leg in the backswing, and rotate the lead leg in the downswing...clearing hips. Hogan's kneecap rotated on that braced trail leg.....He thought he kept it pinched, but the kneecap rotated in that trail leg. And maybe the thought for the lead knee is the knee cap pointing...kinda like the logo on the glove imagery. Do you subscribe to the "spinning on the bar stool" analogy?

a couple of comments: 1. others are commenting that this would cause an injury. I'm 71 years old and this doesn't seem to be a bad thing at all. I tried it and it works for me. 2. recently I was focusing on moving my lead hip/pocket behind me on the down swing. Circling the lead knee makes the hip move backward and increases power. thanks for posting

i'm 71 also and i can do and use this action too. it hasn't been bothering me a bit, i might not be doing it as fast as milo looks but i try to move the left knee and hip first, kind of leading the way. my 150 club is a 5 hybrid and i'm a 12 hdcp. and always working at it. good golfing to ya.

Milo and Henry-if the pressure moves to the front part of the left foot, how do you keep the left hip back and away from the target? Keep your hip from moving toward the ball…I’m a website member and love your content!

Good question. From the top of the backswing down to lead arm parallel the body is opening and reflexing which creates the additional depth in the pelvis. It’s like going from standing straight up then dropping before you jump. When you do that your pelvis gets deeper but pressure under foot doesn’t go back to the heals

Okey, how HARD do we push? I have been doing this, but i think i havent pushed hard enough. I never understand how to actually use the legs to create power, because i push to recenter and then my body sort of drops down towards the ground, and i JUMP up to get some sort of leg power, but i never hit it further. Now i realised, maybe the speed isn't in the jump, but in the pushes to create body rotation.. is this right? That we should push pretty hard with the right leg, and then the left, to create maximum leg power?

Milo, great video and Im a huge fan of yours and Im also living in Arizona. I have been really struggling on transitioning my back swing to my down swing with any type of athleticism type movement. I felt very awkward and usually hit behind the ball even with good rotation until I put together a few of your videos and I think I finally got it. I like to explain this to you and get your overall thoughts and maybe this could become be a good idea for a future video. First I found it was nearly impossible for me to initiate my downswing and rotate my left hip and left knee to come to the impact position while trying to keep my arms passive until I made a move that you casually said in one of your other videos. This was one of the most important keys that put the entire swing together and in sync! As I move the club back in the back swing and prior to fully coming to the top of the back swing , I made a "buggy whip" type movement with my wrist. This movement alone naturally helped me rotate my hips and knees to the left in a natural athletic movement without any type of swing thought, even before my backswing was complete. A baseball swing. The reason Im writing this long drawn out comment is that i could never make this move with stiff and rigid wrists. The wrists and the whipping motion of the wrist set it all in motion, before my backswing was complete. I hope you understand what Im trying to say. It was your casual comment in one of your videos that really help me develop this.

Wouldn't this motion start with the foot and end with the hip? Wouldn't there be a sequencing to it? So in other words in transition the weight gets out into the lead toe then into the lead heel then the knee starts to extend then the hip can really fire? I'm just curious cuz I don't understand how you can start turning that hip without your foot or knee doing something before that happens. Obviously I was going to feel it different but I'm just saying mathematically, mechanically

Milo can you do a video on how you trained yourself to use your legs and hips so well to use the ground to create leverage. It is something you can see in your swing that you do really well and it would be great if you could go into the training you did to create that. I have noticed you bend your knees a lot at transition a video in how you train that would be a good place to start. Thanks

@@MiloLinesGolf That is a good video, but I would like to know how you or anyone gets those movements deep in you like they are in you. I get the feeling those movements were already in you before you transferred to golf as your main sport. It looks to me if you get those leg, hip and pivot movements in deep the bulk of the work is done and good swing is inevitable and that is where the really important bit is.

I don’t think you quite understood the knee circles as a byproduct of other movements. Also the pressure moves into the lead heel later (as a byproduct of continuous rotation) not first thing.
@HolyGrailOfGolf
@HolyGrailOfGolf 3 жыл бұрын
The kings of the "throwing the left knee" are Jack Nicklaus and Sam Snead. Most people only see their front heel coming off the ground but that's not what's really happening. In order to start the downswing by throwing the left knee and thigh around in a circular motion, you have to create some weight in the knee and you do that by bending it. A straight leg has no little inertia when rotated, but a bent leg does. Throwing the lead knee is a lost art. It yanks the hips and body through the swing when done properly - simply lifting the left heel off the ground without know why is pointless. If you understand the concept you'll really feel it when you do it properly.

Rotation in my swing is my biggest problem. I tried focusing on this rotation movement in yesterday’s round, but towards the end of the round my top left side of my pelvic was hurting, and this morning feels really sore. Do you think I’ve finally learned to rotate correctly and I’m really sore from never using these muscles, or maybe something else?
