OddlyEven, Happy Birthday! 🎂 I do love to see the circles rule used with this much panache. Fantastic puzzle. I've always thought that it's very hard to make a circle-counting fog puzzle, because it's usually hard to deduce much until you know how many circles there are. This puzzle shows that it can in fact be done! Really fun sense of discovery in this, exactly what the best fog puzzles should be like. And I was hoping all the way through that there would be a 1 in a circle at the end to disambiguate, and you didn't disappoint. Thanks for a brilliant creation, and hope you are having a lovely day

I've learned so much from this channel, and solving this puzzle without help is a perfect example!! Just in getting the first digit, which involved proving limits and constraints on available digits on the dual lines because when dividing the lowest triangular sum by the number of arrow circles, along with the constraint of a visible square with no circles ... and, well, just suffice it to say there is no possible way I could have perceived the logic independently without having watched you and Mark for dozens and dozens of solves before now. My point is you've grown my logic muscle, and that's a freakin' cool thing.

(A 4 cell arrow never crossed my mind). Anyway, I backed up on the goofs and sorted out so I got the proper logic without resorting to knowledge given by the goofs. Really a lovely puzzle. And one thing I especially like with foggies is that you do get a limited path to follow and figure out, and you do get some immediate indications of errors (which kind of is needed for me) so you do note have to back from an almost solved puzzle that breaks all the way to the beginning.

32:51 I'm a little bummed that's how he found the 2 in a circle. Several minutes before, he could have wondered about the fourth circles in boxes 2 and 3 and wondered what they could be. They had to be very small and he could have rather quickly determined it was two 2 circles and one 1 circle without relying on much sudoku. Oh well. This works too :)
@-mir85-366 ай бұрын
Philosophical question: How do you feel when you make mistaskes in a fogged sudoku? I somehow feel worse about making a mistake when the fog doesn't clear, and I immediately know that that was wrong, then how I feel when I discover something isn't right and I have to backtrack. Maybe it's that I didn't discover the mistake myself, the fog told me, it doesn't feel like I've earned it in the same way. Consequences are also almost nonexistent, no backtracking, no wondering what was wrong, just have to think about why it was wrong. PS. I put in two wrong digits in this fog, can you guess the first?

This puzzle was just brilliant. Most fun I've had in ages. I took what I thought was an extremely linear solve path that sort of unfolded naturally from one clue to the next as each was revealed from the fog. But then Simon goes and does stuff on the other side of the grid that revealed stuff I didn't get to until the end of the damn thing. Simon must have been wondering the point of that circled 1, given his solve path. But that circled 2 was the very last fog cell I revealed, so I had an enjoyable conundrum in box 3 over whether that was a circled 1 or 2, which Simon didn't have to consider. Bit of a shame, that.

I'm stuck right at the start. The only way out I can think of is to have a single cell with two circles, to count a digit twice. Otherwise, the circle in block 1 and the circle attached to the arrow in block 7 must add to at least 15 but not contain a 9. They must be 78. 8 must be circled in every block except block 7. This means that block 1's circle must be 8, and the hidden circle in block 4 attached to the arrow in block 7 must be 7. But placing 7 doesn't clear the fog. Okay, I thought of a way out. Block 1's circle is still 8, and block 4's circle is also 8, with a 1 where I thought the 7 should be. (The circles now add to 16.) (A minute later...) Hah! That did it! (Much later...) I finished the puzzle. Now, on to the video.
