does the microphone still work on these and is the mic audio effected by the mods?

Yep, mic works! Unaffected by the pitch/LFO, but goes through the delay alongside the keyboard sounds. On the meowsics I've made with an ext. in jack, I add a switch to choose between the microphone or a different audio source.
