For motor overload protection a DOL starter with appropriate rated OLR relay is better compared to a MCB, as the OLR has step-less adj. within it's range, whereas available MCB/fuse rating is fixed.

Thanks again my brother for sharing your knowledge, but I most the MCB primarily protects the cables in the circuit from overheating not the load most loads carry there own protective devices.

Please i want to ask you a question not relating to the topic. When calculating a current for a single phase, do we include a power factor. When a voltage rating is given between 220 - 240V and a power of 80W is given. Which voltage you are to use to calculate the current of the load and do we include pf

Yes, power factor is just the efficiency. Use 230v

Another question please, in the calculation of yhe cooker current, we had 13amps, why do we always use 6mm² cable for cooker circuit while even 2mm² can be okay per current carrying capacity of the cable.
@obloni_Electrical Жыл бұрын
Cookers come in different sizes. So ideally, the cable size should be determined by the size of cooker. If you don't know the size of cooker to be used, then use a bigger size of cable.
