@@bluntlab Great!! I'm also looking forward to parts 6 and 7, and any future videos in the series. I think I'm quickly becoming a Cisco addict. Well, except for their noisy fans. My Cisco 3845 isn't happy with the Texas summer. Neither am I, for the matter. My home A/C struggles when outside temperatures get near or over 100°F. That's near or over 37.4°C, for the Fahrenheit impaired. At the moment my 3845 is behind me revving up its fans every so often for fifteen to twenty seconds at a time. Even when its fans are revved up a show environment says its power supply fan is normal, fans 1-3 are OK, and all temperatures are normal. Summer needs to go away. I'm ready for fall.

Is CUCM the same as CME?
@bluntlab6 жыл бұрын
No they are 2 different products CME aka CallManager Express is the lower option used in SMB environments and uses a Cisco router CUCM aka CallManager is a virtual server option designed for large installations over 100 users. CUCM is a lot harder to configure and requires a dedicated server to run it all. I am focusing only on CME in these videos as its easier and I can replicate it. but might try and do some CUCM videos in the future

BluntLab I have the ISO for CUCM and have no physical phones or Cisco equipment. I managed to get the ISO to install and run but have no idea what to do now. I do have IP communicator. I'm used to Asterisk so don't really know any of this Cisco stuff. How much is a CME router in the UK? If I do buy some Cisco phones , will they work with Asterisk and do I need POE?
@bluntlab6 жыл бұрын
I have an iso somewhere for it but not done much with it I recommend watching part 1 of this series where I go over the hardware but you can get a compatible router for like £30 I would not recommend cisco phones for Asterisk. Unless their the small business models as the proper cisco phones are a right pain to use on asterisk

BluntLab What phones do you recommend for Asterisk? Do you need licences for CME if I buy a router?
@bluntlab6 жыл бұрын
Well the Cisco SPA range are nice for Asterisk. but really any SIP phone will work. some decent units by Polycom/Grandstream too. Depends on the router. with the generation of router I am working with you do not need to licence it. just need to load the right IOS version. I explained this in part 1 if you want a bit more detail on that side
