Hello! In this video I've shown how to create a simple network with a switch and two end devices in Cisco Packet Tracer. You will learn how to configure the PCs easily after watching the video. You'll be able to set their IP address and can send data from one pc to another and also ping them.

why do we have to assign ip address to devices in switching techniques? why not use mac address alone?

Okay already at 1:30 you're doing things I don't understand. When I click and connect to the switch it shows red, and I can't ping other devices on the network. You opened some drop down menu but I don't understand how you did that, nothing I try is working

As I learned, switch uses mac address to forward the packet, it is in layer 2. Why cisco packet tracer requires assign IP address for PC when using switch?

In Cisco Packet Tracer, a network simulation tool, assigning IP addresses to PCs even when using switches is a common practice for several reasons: Layer 3 Switches: Cisco Packet Tracer supports layer 2 switches as well as layer 3 switches. Layer 3 switches can perform routing functions and operate at both Layer 2 and Layer 3. These switches require IP addresses to enable Layer 3 routing capabilities. By assigning IP addresses to PCs, you can simulate the routing functionality of a layer 3 switch within the Packet Tracer environment. Simulating Networks with Routers: In more complex network topologies, routers are often used to connect different networks together. Routers operate at Layer 3 and require IP addresses on their interfaces to function. By assigning IP addresses to PCs connected to switches, you can simulate the presence of routers and the communication between different networks.
