Thanks Mark! These citi reviews have been super helpful, especially the “is this card for you” at end. Ive been interested in both of these, but im more of roadtripper/domestic traveler, so im leaning to the Premier.

Its slightly different now, it opens from right to left. Great presentation but citi needs to raise to price to $550 and reintroduce travel benefits. A travel card without benefits is not great. I will day the $250 is pretty broad and easy to earn. 3x on cruise lines is ass, just bundle it up with travel.
@MarkReese3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha yeah I'd be curious to see how much the 3X cruises category gets used; can't think of any other cards that call that specific category on its own.😄✌️

When Citi dropped travel protection on its TRAVEL card, I downgraded my Premier card to the Double Cash and now focus largely on Chase and Amex points. Plus, if you travel mostly for business, unless you’re a consultant, 4-night stats are rare. Maybe it’s good for the vacation traveler who stays for longer periods of time. I wonder if there was any impact to Citi’s number of card owners after cutting travel protection. Maybe not. Maybe I’m the odd one who cares about that. 😊

For quite some time I've thought it'd be so cool to sit down with a big bank's Chief Marketing Officer and go thru all the consumer insights data. Where do people spend, what benefits get used, what triggers a card revamp, etc. 😃👍 The learnings behind consumer behavior nationwide must be pretty darn fascinating!

Hey Kyle! Cash back is 0.5¢ per point for all cards _except_ the Citi Prestige. So while the Double Cash, Rewards+, Preferred, and Premier Cards get 0.5¢ per point, the Prestige will get 1.0¢ per point 💥

At some point, I would like to pair my Double Cash with this card, but I simply can't justify what if offers with the lifestyle I lead at the moment and for the foreseeable future. The Premier is still a better offering to me over this one, personally. And if I really, REALLY want a metal/plastic hybrid card? I think I will just apply for the WF Propel. I'm glad you reviewed this card, though. Love your credit card content.

It had such great potential if Citi had kept travel insurance. Great spending multipliers when combined with Citi Double cash. 5x on dinning, 5x on travel agency sites, and 2x for everything else while using Citi Double cash. However, most people don't want a card with a $495 annual fee and zero travel insurance. If something goes wrong, it could turn into a very expensive situation.a

Hey Mark, could you do an upcoming video on how to book flights with Citi's transfer partners?
@MarkReese3 жыл бұрын
I’ll add it to the list! Until then, you’ll book on the partner’s site just as you would with their loyalty program. With Citi, you simply transfer your points out to the airline. Then go to that airlines site, log into your account there, and book. Make sense?
@kmb69163 жыл бұрын
@@MarkReese Kinda but at times it's confusing.
@MarkReese3 жыл бұрын
@@kmb6916 - For example: If you transfer 50,000 Citi ThankYou points to Air France, then you'll have 50,000 Air France miles. You'll then book your flights on Air France's website with your miles. // Since my KZbin channel isn't focused on travel, I may not produce videos of the actual booking process on the airline's sites. For that, I recommend searching travel blogs like One Mile At A Time, The Points Guy, and View From the Wing ✈️

If you cancel it, then the 24-month clock will start over, so you wouldn't be eligible for any ThankYou-related bonus until that's over 😁✌️ If you _product change_ and keep the same card number, then yes, you should be eligible to apply for the Citi Premier with a new welcome offer 😃👍

do they give a statement credit for the 4th night free if so it would be worth it to book two 2k per night hotels and canceling them after the credit is applied on the account
@MarkReese3 жыл бұрын
Well, the booking requires booking 4 nights up from, so you'd need to spend $8K ... times 2 ... for $16K 😄✌️ However, my guess is that this would raise a red flag if a cancellation followed the statement credit being posted. Since it's all done thru Citi's portal, they'd have a lot of insight.

It varies based on the card in question 😃👍 For the Citi Prestige, AUs DO get their own Priority Pass membership with the same access privileges as the primary cardholder. AUs DO NOT get the TSA Pre / Global entry credit, the 4th Night Free benefit, or their own travel credit (but their spend will count toward the _shared_ $250 travel credit) 👍
