I feel terrible for Hong Kong. The reason why the firework show was small was because it was held by a private company. The government didn’t put on the show that year :(

Drastic One of the low effort ones like Hong kong was low effort because the government cancelled their firework and celebration plans in order to deal with the city's protests (it was still going on during new years). Fortunately, private owned companies were still able to put up a show despite it being a lot worse than the one which HK gov itself can do.

Everything in the u.s always has an advert or some sort of sponsor that's the reality we live in now corporates run the country. Even during the live new year's coverage all we get ads I found that quite tacky in New York for the New year's and lame fireworks shows compared to other countries what a joke were we.
