You actually have to build in 1 camera angle and fill in as much as you can until moving on the next section. However, during the final design of the Trade School, I knew there would be too much camera movement so I had to fast forward to the end but at least explain the mindset on how I placed things.

I love your style and the way you build, Cap'n! It's been a huge influence on my own builds. One question - what population is a good target for opening a city's first university campus?

For this video, I started my first campus at 50k population because I wanted to get all 3 upgraded asap. But the earliest can be at around 25k - 30k population if you're just aiming for 1 campus.

Do you know the reason for the difference between the number of eligible and attending students, even if a city has more university capacity than eligible students? Before the DLC came out that was never an issue, after it suddenly was. Even if a city only has generic universities, there is a discrepancy between the two numbers. I would love to know why and if it can be minimised.

I'm having trouble upgrading my university campus beyond renowned (3") bacause for some reason I can't seem to get enough students to attend it... Maybe you have any tips what I can do to fix that? My campus has a capacity of about 1,500, enough attractiveness for the level up, but I can't get more than ~950 students, even though according to the education overview, there are about 7,500 (!) eligible citizens in my city of 45,000.. I have the School's out policy active only in one smallish residential area close to my lumber industry, all others are either neutral or have Education Boost active. I'm playing on the Seahorse Islands map (it's the one Biffa is playing in his current New Tealand series), meaning space is rather limited and even though my campus is pretty centrally located (right where the start square would have been if I hadn't used the 81 tile mod), it's a bit removed from the residential areas. I' did link it up directly to my city center by train and metro, as well as to my residential areas on the outer islands by ferry. Citizens have no trouble going from one end of my built-up area to the other end, for purposes of work, leisure and even K thru 12 education (I once followed a High School student living on an outer island take bus, ferry, metro, and tram to get to the High School that is literally the farthest away from his home, on the far side of the map. But for some reason they don't want to attend my one uni that is far easier to reach... Help!

1. Can your students reach the campuses by road ? 2. Are your 9600 students university level students? Did they go through Elementary and High school?

There are many reasons to why less or no students are attending your universities, if you have discord discord.com/invite/tnHSQyR , you can share your screenshots of your campus so we can analyze for a solution. A possible issue is you don't have enough elementary and high schools for students to graduate to go to a university. You might also have a low city population.

I don’t want to sound nitpicky, and I know it might sound like a minor thing, but please don’t perpetuate the misinterpretation of OCD. As someone with actual OCD, when people keep using it as a synonym for perfectionism (which it is very far from, in fact very few OCD rituals even include any perfectionism- quite the opposite- at least for me) it continues to trivialise the condition and make it seem overly common. I know you only mention it a few times but it’s just not fun when others who don’t understand the illness normalise its use in conversation as an adjective or a trait. Same case with ADHD. You wouldn’t say “My Parkinson’s” to talk about something if you didn’t have Parkinson’s. In the future, I suggest just saying “my perfectionism” or something like that instead. Other than that, great video though, and your insights were incredibly helpful! I hope this didn’t sound too critical, I’m just offering some advice, because aside from this minor issue, I genuinely find your content amazing!

Thank you for pointing that out! Fair warning though that perhaps in a few more episodes until the latest E33, I may have made other OCD references. Nevertheless, I completely agree that I and others should not be casually using OCD as a synonym for perfectionism.

That’s a strange looking university. I would have one of each type of sports facility, and fewer copies of the other buildings. A typical university in the U.S would have all the sports facilities, so this would be more realistic.

Also, you can use campus policies to get to level 5. Temporary use of free tuition can improve campus attractiveness without needing so many dorms.

I'll try that in a future city where all sports facilities are in one campus. In the first campus area, there just isn't enough space to accommodate them all so I chose to spread them apart and have 1 stadium per campus.
