This game is far more intricate than I thought when I first started. I screwed up so many cities and had to start over so many times. I've had the mass death thing, terrible traffic gridlock, no workers/educated workers. I started playing with the cheats enabled just so I can get a better understanding and this guide has been helping me big time.

You, Sir, are a godsend. I’ve spent the last few hours trying to create an island in the middle of the ocean with a functional road stretching to the mainland. I’m not kidding when I say I tried every which way I could think of but the road kept going THROUGH the island instead of on top. I persevered because I thought the annoying stuff usually pays off in the end… 2 mins into your video I realised all I needed was the X button…..

Use monuments, basketball courts and landmarks to improve land value instead of using tree/grass lined streets and parks Edit: To reduce noise, don't build grids so dense and do not allow zoning directly along the sidewalks(leave a single line unzoned along the edge of the sidewalk). This extra space really helps with upgrading roads as you go along It also helps with sunlight distribution, so your skyscrapers don't covered in moss It may change your water pipe mathematics Idk

When I use footpaths, I have at least 2 per block, with every other path a bridge or tunnel to keep people off the crosswalks as much as possible.

At the risk of stating the obvious, I also planned my zoning to accomodate future pedestrian paths, but in my case the strips I reserved connected residential _and_ commercial blocks so that the paths that eventually went in _were_ the shortest path between them. As such, I minimized the need to boot any cims off their property in order to make improvements. Also, future bus routes were positioned to stop where these paths met streets. Playing on PC, but very close to the minimum specs CPU-wise, so sticking close to vanilla, with mods limited to move-it and vehicle manager (to replace transit vehicles with models of real-life examples)

The thing about fences if they connected to park gate they will be placed on the line between squares which makes them more realistic.

You should do a video on the disaster dlc showing the different disasters that happens,, show how to setup the shelters and how to make routes for people to escape also i think you should add those in your current city after you save it of course just to give us something different than just building 😉

I can never figure out how to use the slope tool, if for some reason you need a road on a steep slope the gravel road will go up a steeper slope than other roads and you can maybe be lucky and can upgrade it to another type.
