having to wait for trees to grow is like fine for some contexts but they should really allow you to spend extra money to purchase or transplant a full sized tree, just because thats functionality that exists in real life
@anton_melnikov Жыл бұрын
That will be a dlc feature
@chrisshergie1030 Жыл бұрын
in real life you plan around existing trees. it would cost a fortune transporting enough full grown trees to actually make a difference in the landscape. that would be my guess as to the reason the changed this. i see creators immediately wipe out sections of trees and then want to put trees right back in at the end. perhaps they want people to use the existing terrain more?

That island between the two cities - my first thought was to put a zoo there but i don't even know if that's possible in CS2 lol. I feel like an aquarium, museum, zoo, sport stadium.... something that's like a large scale public landmark / destination :)

More likely, apart from high development on prime real estate, would probably be an old castle or fortress-turned-prison, but those things will probably have to wait for the modder community. In the meantime, maybe Margaret Island in Budapest can serve as an inspiration: A mostly car-free recreational area with parks, public pools, a historic water tower, gardens, hotels, open air venues, ruins left after some past disaster or war, pavilions, fountains... whatever vanilla CS2 has to offer.

Tbh if all they did was revamp the road tool and call it a sequel I would still buy it. Just as you said, that simple intersection would have taken you an hour of fiddling with 5 different mods. Looks extremely goofy.

21:20 - First time I've seen the sheer size of the map. With a mod to make all of that playable.. you could easily build multi-state or multi-country maps! The potential here is amazing. Plus with so many tools and a more realistic look now part of core base game, I'm hoping that the generally lower mod-dependency means such a huge map can be played without tanking the RAM and FPS. We'll see!

I really _love_ the fact that trees have to grow. It gives your cities more realism and and temporal depth. I think its nice that you'll be able to tell how old an area is simply by looking at the trees. It will also make you think twice before just cutting them down if you're like just a tiny bit unhappy with how an area came out. So it really annoys me that so many content creators complained about it, because this doesn't suit their Bob Ross play style. Having said that, I'm _very_ concerned that the tree decorations on roads _does not_ seem to grow. So you will not be able to have lovely leafy roads until this is fixed or modded.

that unique "monstrosity" intersection connecting the roads in Dunyetti across the traintracks is really cool but I noticed that unlike the tunnel that used to be there, these roads don't allow pedestrians. Meaning currently pedestrians in the city basically have no way of going from one to the other side of the tracks in the city centre, maybe you could consider building a pedestrian tunnel or bridge as well.

Great video, already getting ideas watching you. The vanilla ability to weave intersections and bridges around structures should allow for some great realistic city centre over-development. Liking the vanilla style too. My only concerns are: 1: The taller mid-rise look a bit TOO tall compared to rowhouses low-mid etc. However upon playing and measuring I might find it to be actualy realistic, though looks just a little off. 2: Really wish there was some Parklife style prop placement with gazebos, Avanya style planters for plazas, fountains and hedge and fence line tools. I can see them adding it later, but it's so vital for giving districts a distict character. Apart from that, looking good!

One thing I really think is paradoxically cool about the new graphics, is that it is both less detailed, yet more realistic. If you look, the individual textures of concrete etc are very flat when you zoom in, much more so than cities 1. However, I feel like because of the more proper scale of the buildings, cars, and roads, and the better overall color pallet, the game looks WAY more realistic than cities 1. I think this is actually great as it makes the base game a lot more customizable for mods and custom assets that will fit in.

I think having a port/industrial district, like a cargo terminal and or cruise ship terminal would make sense for the island since it has great access to the river and provides good connectivity for both towns. Having some railways too would be good to help reduce road traffic in the area and alleviate congestion. Idk just a suggestion. I feel like a uni wouldn’t make too much sense due to the nearby industry and the island feels a bit too small for future university expansion.

Historically speaking, the island probably would have been an early industrial location if the river was at all used for transportation of goods. Now in the lore of your map I suppose it's possible that the area has been gentrification.

The train line that currently ends in Notdunyeti could really go either way down either of the valleys. One would clearly be more difficult to build than the other due to elevation changes, but not impossible. I guess it depends on if you'd rather make it a more time consuming project but also a more geographically interesting train line, or an easier and quicker build. Either way I would imagine a city off the edge of the map that the train is headed towards in that direction.

I'm fine with all the new features added, and would like to see some more like a ctrl-Z function, but most important to me is the ability to toggle everything on and off. I know CS is a money and city management game, but just making a good looking city without having to worry about anything is a huge part of it too. Everyone has different things they do and don't want enabled, so an option to toggle every single aspect of the game is needed.

When you were building your roads around the 25 min mark, you said it felt unrealistic but I think it's incredibly realistic if you look at places like Pittsburgh and Wheeling and West Virginia as a whole, these were very old cities, that had most of their infrastructure in place before the dominance of roads, on top of that they're in geographically very difficult places to build, I mean most of West Virginia literally can't build anywhere other than along the riverbanks because of the mountains and that has led to some of the most unique looking road layouts I've ever seen, and your video very much reminded me of that.

They should add a special type of zoning similar to the district zoning that zoned park areas, it would not allow for housing or anything to be built in it, but it also acted like a regular park that you could place down. The larger and more items in the park, the more attractive it would be.

Train stations should not have parking lots attached to it. That is poor planning. Train stations are a hub of activity so should contain shops and restaurants. An example would be the Kyoto station in Japan. It incorporating restaurants, a shopping mall, hotel, movie theater, Isetan department store, and several local government facilities under one 15-story roof.
