Time for all these chiefs to put aside some money from the sale of lands, and parliament must introduce a bill which will allow for them to collect some small tax from all businesses established on their lands, so they can use it to undertake small developments then government can also handle bigger projects.

Useless comment by a party foot soldiers who will not learn what the national house of chiefs does in Ghana, for your information if not politics some of the chiefs sitting your mahama doesn't even come close to them in terms of academia and achievement in life, learn how to talk to elders and respect them,or you think they went to see mahama ? apuu check your facts your right it mahama who called on them, and some of them have on their throne for over twenty years, some are high court judges, directors CEO and the rest having company and businesses employing Ghanaians,if you have no regards for your poor village fine but some of us we have respect and also acknowledge their contribution to Ghana.

Our Nananom at the National House of Chiefs must be given the power of final approval to every policy or reforms that impact our beloved and peaceful country Ghana! Our chiefs are the custodians of our country, and therefore we cannot allow politicians to make decisions without consultation with Nananom, and that often times negatively impacts the daily lives of Ghanaians for generations! I hope and pray, that President Mahama will live true to his words and champion the genuine reset of Ghana that benefits and uplifts the Ghanaian! We are at a critical juncture in Ghana where the trust of Ghanaians in their elected leaders must be upheld and encouraged. The peace, the harmony, the love and kindness, and the freedom we as a people have enjoyed for so long is slowly but surely slipping away, because politicians have often taken us for granted and have brainwashed the current generation to be partisans, and have encouraged lawlessness and indiscipline that the older generation never experienced! President Mahama, this is your time to shine for your name to be on the lips of generations of Ghanaians to come, because of the positive changes you are capable of making in the lives of Ghanaians, in this your last and final term in office!! I wish you well and pray that God leads you in the running of our beloved Ghana!!!

What a jerk to applaud the President shutting down the Chieftancy Ministry. No wonder lawlessness, hooliganism destructive behavior by a section of the populace whose party and President are currently in control of the affairs of the country but violence is on the rise with impunity. The Chieftancy institution has been in place long enough before Ghana attained independence in 6th March,1957. Ghana traditional leaders played instrumental roles along with the politicians in that era paving way to Ghana's emancipation from colonial rule. What's next after doing away with chieftancy? Tinkering with the constitution, bastardizing Ghana's fragile democracy and replacing it autocratic regime as it is in Putin Russia and the rubber stamped duma will not succeed in Ghana.

Ghana is a republic, governed by a constitution that protects the rights and dignity of its citizens. When we amended the constitution, we had to be careful not to give too much power to traditional chiefs, as this could undermine our democratic institutions. Former President Atta Mills was right to reject the documents that sought to give chiefs more power. Instead of increasing the power of chiefs, our focus should be on building strong institutions that promote good governance and protect human rights. Our politicians have a problem with corruption, and unfortunately, traditional chiefs are also affected by this issue. As president, one would have to decide whether to reform the chieftaincy system or maintain the current status. By doing so, we can reduce corruption and ensure that our traditional leaders are held to the same standards as our politicians. This would be a step in the right direction towards building a better future for Ghana.

Now otumfuor is building his asanteman too, you people are crying. We Ashanti's will remove ourselves from Ghana just as Eritrea removed themselves from Ethiopia. Ridiculous without Ashanti and Ashanti king there is no Ghana. And yes we have a king in Ghana that is Ashanti king. You can go and burn the sea, the matter still remains he is a king.

The chieftaincy ministry should go. It's not needed. Chiefs have NATIONAL and REGIONAL HOUSE OF CHIEFS to address their concerns. Aside that our chiefs are respected and whatever issues they raise are heard and respected. That's enough, we don't need a ministry dedicated solely to their institution

All the chiefs in all regions of Ghana should petition the president for an "amendment to the constitution" to reform the chieftaincy system to give them equal power and rights. Ghana is a republic governed by a constitution that protects the rights and dignity of its citizens. No regional chief should be under the other. If a particular chief can not attend an important presidential program but sends delegates. Please, the presidents of Ghana must also start sending delegates to their anniversaries. No region is bigger than Ghana.

You must writing in a dream. Who said the constitution has been biase to traditional leaders and not others. The traditional councils even before we're there before the constitution was formed. The constitution came in existence because Ghanaians including, traditional leaders, civilians etc, agreed to the constitution. The constitution has only respected every traditional council and that's why in the constitution it says " customary laws are guaranteed" Because the constitution didn't create stools and skin for traditional leaders. The constitution didn't share lands to traditional for you to say it should give equal power and rights to traditional leaders. Every traditional leader knows his boundary of land, his traditional council, which was from the old days and not just yesterday. If the constitution respected me, and I don't expect the constitution to rebel against me .

You didn’t come direct but you need some schooling…when Mahama won the elections did he come to Manhyia in person to inform Asantehene about his victory and coming inauguration?. No he didn’t but he travelled to a lot African countries to inform and invite them to his presidential inauguration personally. So how then is it wrong that Otumfuo sends a delegation to attend the inauguration ceremony on his behalf…meanwhile Otumfuo had already made a promise to the chief of the Benin Kingdom in Nigeria to always celebrate the new year with him at his palace hence Asantehene was in Nigeria at the time of Mahama’s inauguration. So next time please get your facts right before you spew any nonsense.
