Cool that he took the time to answer so thoroughly and genuinely - more insight than you often get from post race interviews.

This is the Jakob I like. Level headed and insightful responses. Him in the steeplechase would be really cool! A little surprised that they asked him about the marathon before he's had a chance to compete in the 10k and the half, but what can you expect from these so called journalists. I'm glad Kejelcha gave him something to think about as well.

I think he's always level headed and insightful in interviews. Even at worlds. He was feeling crap but still gave the reporters lots of time and answered everything with his trademark honesty. I've never once seen him snap or be rude to reporters. Despite getting some really stupid questions at times!

180 k that's 112 miles a week. Damn, for a 1500/miler that's a ton and add to that the double threshold and other speed types of workouts. WOW! and he's been training this way since he was a little kid, Incredible!

180km a week is around 26km/ 16miles a day. Not 11miles a day/week or whatever you calculated here

And no he doesn‘t add other type of speed workouts. It‘s already included in the 180-195 miles, as he said that this is his weekly mileage

The OP missed the last number. It is 112 if truly 7 days a week. Of note, Jakob states that October through May is higher mileage, base building workouts.

He is a great interview and always gives honest, thoughtful and eloquent answers. I find him very patient and generous with the press as well. Occasionally he will show the swagger and the sass but that makes him even more entertaining and interesting. A refreshing athlete all around. And let`s not forget he is only 22. He is speaking very maturely for his age.

Jacob needs to practice more on media interviews less on running hahaha! Congratulations young man!

Depends what your angle is. I think he is articulate and generous in the information he gives - particularly given he is still 22. Most people in their early 20s can barely form a coherent sentence these days. He may need some media training to avoid revealing too much, but that would make him rather boring.

The other girl screaming in the interview just off screen with horrible grammar and entrance structure is really distracting.
