Interestingly, I recently purchased one, but I got the older model as I preferred the look and the feature set. I can say it's a very big and masculine watch. I have dived for most of my adult life and I can add that this watch is one of the best diving watch that money can buy; make no mistake, a Rolex or an Omega dive watch is an item of jewelry and possibly a long term investment if you take care of it. A Citizen Aqualand is a diving watch favoured by people that actually dive. Back in the '80s, any diver on a movie set when asked would've recommended an Aqualand, so perhaps it's no surprise that the studio used them everywhere as not only did it look the part, but the price wouldn't break the budget for movie props. Right from the start, the accuracy of the Aqualand's depth gauge was easily better that analogue instruments that divers typically used. I remember comparing figures with the first ever true diving computer, the EDGE from Orca Industries, and you couldn't fit a pin between the readings.

I'm not usually into dive watches and this one isn't an exception. However the Satellite Wave GPS Diver 200m CC5006-06L is. Oddly it lacks the depth gauge but has the coolest world timer dial, +/- 5 sec a month even without the GPS timekeeping system, 720 days power reserve even when receiving GPS signals once a week, 7 years with hands frozen, a perpetual calendar, is all titanium and has that killer feature - automatic hands correction so they are always aligned to the markers even after shock impact.

Totally agree here. I've reviewed the old 2014 model several times and the 300m sat diver, (ok the latter isn't an aqualand). I don't believe they (Citizen Aqualand) are good daily wearers).

I purchased mine (the black, red, and blue version) a few days ago on a 4th of July sale for 260 dollars. I love Citizen’s ability to make functional pieces that actually serve as legitimate pieces of equipment. Their pilot’s watches are ACTUALLY PILOTS WATCHES, and their divers are real ISO certified divers. It’s refreshing to see them take quality and authenticity so seriously, especially since Seiko has started doing the opposite (by discontinuing the SKX and replacing it with the 5KX fashion watch line)

I would disagree with the Aqualand as being a 'daily wear watch", especially this model and those back including to 2014. I've worn them (own them) for diving and wearing them topside-only to charge if i can not leave them somewhere, they are a bulky watch with many exterior parts which need to be kept clean to function properly and should not be damaged. Every time one gets it wet, even in the kitchen sink/washing the car etc will activate the water sensor and the watch (ok it's momentary) thinks it is about to go diving. Even for snorkel diving as apposed to a regular dive watch one can not escape the rapid ascent alarm going off when returning to the surface (because it can not be deactivated for safety reasons-although this watch should never be worn as a sole depth gauge of course as Citizen categorically state in their manuals re the aqualand series. Try to comfortably cross one arms wearing this watch, no chance, it's too bulky. This is for similar reasons Citizen suggest it should not be worn to bed either. they are def funky designs no one can argue there, and backing that up are their (Citizen) numerous design awards attributed to these watches over the years. They are also slow to tell the time vs a regular two/three hands watch; this particular model with a very unorthodox "fuel gauge" which looks like the second hand but which isn't. It's rather become a 'trendy watch to wear" for those who want to "look like a diver" and pay for features that will almost certainly not be used. I guess fair enough, like those who get tattooed only to hide them from public view each to their own. As a diver, I'm surprised you would suggest this was a daily wearer. Diving only to 30m, ok one doesn't need a dive computer but that depends upon what kind of bottom time and whether one knows their tables as they should as a backup and many other things but I would not rely solely upon this watch as a depth gauge. Personally, I think this is one of the most ugly of them. The coolest, if one has to take that view has to be the 2014 models with the clam shell design and hence why the 300m sat divers also use a similar clamshell design, it works a a tough case design which can definitely take the knocks underwater, heck, I've beaten mine undersea Anyway, that's just my HO from someone who wears one for diving.

Small mistake in this video...every single Promaster dial can be aligned. This watch shown in the video should be reseted and aligned. Just for the info...

This is old tech in a newer (and uglier) package. I’m disappointed. Had analogue and ana-digi Aqualands in the late 90s that did all this and more. Always hat a soft spot for citizen and owned many, but citizen ist wasting their potential since many years.

Legibility is not great. This would be really difficult to read at a glance underwater, or even above water. The hour hand especially is a fat blob, and fat blobs don't work great.

Are you a diver? Cause I am, haven't done more than 35 to 40 meters in the Caribbean and can tell you unequivocally that the watch works and its extremely legible. And yes even above ground as well. You may want to check your glasses prescription, time to get more power I think.

Holy hell that is a disaster of a watch. Damn Invicta makes better crap. I hope they paid this man a lot of money to review this thing that should be recalled, put into a barrel, and dropped into a volcano.

I bet you are a Seiko guy, Citizen is eating Seikos lunch right now, in QC, line ups and everything else. I think the watch is beautiful, just cause you do not like it doesn't mean other people don't as well. I actually go scuba diving in the Caribbean and use this watch every time and it does its job perfectly. Its a tool watch, but I seriously doubt you know what that is.
