Fabulous also makes the EMX extreme 60 volt which has dual 750 watt motors. I own one and it's fantastic! You're right you need to change the settings I hit a top speed of 32 mph and man is it quick to get there! Love it!

The big difference in dual motors is the quick responsive power when you accelerate. No single motor ebike can compete. Whereas dual 750 motors do top out in the 32-35mph a single motor ebike of 1000watts can go to 36-38mph with controllers as low as 25amp. but the feeling will always be laggy compared to dual motors. Dual motor bikes can also go up ski hills without stressing the motors as much, a rear wheel will suffer and either not make it or blow the controller or motor. I am not defending either one just stating the difference. Top speed single motor, responsive power dual.

Nice bike. Just wondering, and thinking, they should make that controller so the front motor parameters can be set seperate from the back motor parameters so that it doesn't spin the front wheel and yet have the front motor pulling. Just something to think about.

I own a Fablulous e-bike (Trail Step Elite) and love it. I really appreciate you showing this dual motor monster. My favorite part was when you showed how dual motors make power turns tricky and potentially dangerous. Never having owned or used a dual motor e-bike, I hadn't considered this. They seem best suited to hill climbs at slower speeds. Perhaps the 20 inch tire size was a contributing factor as well?

If that's the 20Ah battery, it would be interesting to see the bigger battery since this one looks so huge. They are probably limiting the charge to 80% to extend the total battery life, as dendrite growth (needle-like crystal growths that form inside lithium ion batteries) most commonly occur at 100 charge. Dual motors are great, but it has me thinking which would be better: dual 750 watt motors or one 3,000 watt motor? In sand, dual motors rule, but on pavement and grass, I'm not so sure. I certainly agree that acceleration is important, and love the way extra torque climbs hills. I remember the first gas/electric group ride in Branford Connecticut, and when we got to the steep switchbacks going up to the city overlook, the gas mopeds got left behind.
@fabulousebikes1110
@fabulousebikes1110 Жыл бұрын
The battery is big because it is a 60v 20Ah battery, 1,200watt hours. if it was a 48v battery it would be comparable to a 25Ah battery. so we did actually go a little bigger. In the 48v version we have the standard 20Ah battery and the 30Ah battery, now thats a real tall battery.

@CitizenCycle925

I can see this being a polarizing frame design. It feels tall for a 20in wheel bike. Folding frames are not my favorite because these bikes are too heavy to fold and load easily. This frame does give you rear suspension though.
@jimmyjames8736
@jimmyjames8736 Жыл бұрын
My main issue with this frame design is battery placement. That is a big heavy battery and it is mounted on the rear swingarm. The rear hub and battery combine for a ton of unsprung weight in the back which severely limits suspension performance. And it has a heavy hub up front that reduces fork performance too. Having a heavy hub up front can be worth the ride compromise for the extra torque. But bouncing the big battery on the swingarm was a poor choice that they should have avoided imo.
@fabulousebikes1110
@fabulousebikes1110 Жыл бұрын
@@jimmyjames8736 disagree, folding is also for people that need to transport the ebikes, so taking out battery was important. As well how else would you get such a big battery on the bike? Putting it in the frame for this style is not possible. The bike has gone through high jumps and no movement to the battery what so ever. Air suspension in the back and what Citizen did not mention yet is the Front RST suspension is also AIR!!
@jimmyjames8736
@jimmyjames8736 Жыл бұрын
@@fabulousebikes1110 The battery location is not the design problem, just the execution of it. The battery could be in the same location on the bike but attached rigidly off the back of the seat tube. Then the swingarm could have used suspension linkage pivot points at the sides of the battery cradle to transfer motion past the battery to the shock. The bike could have still folded the same as it does now. And it would have avoided having all that battery mass adding to the unsprung weight load of the rear suspension. The wider spacing of the linkage pivots would have also added torsional rigidity to the swingarm. Designs are just a series of choices. There are always alternative ways of doing things. Your post that seems to suggest that bouncing the battery on the rear suspension was the only way to make this bike is kind of surprising.

Maybe they are limiting that battery charge to 80% due to the controller possibly having an upper voltage limit around the 62v mark?? I know others mentioned battery longevity but why would they care enough about that on a prototype sent to reviewers to brag about. I would think they prefer full power performance over how long their test bike battery lasts…

Because the batteries are new 60v and being tested as well we used a smaller charger that will not charge over 80% on purpose. Once released we will make sure you get ever ounce of power out of them. It is always safer to leave batteries at 60% when not used and preferably when shipping.

This Havoc bike looks similar to the Amp Rides Volt DS but with dual motor mag wheels. I like the looks of mag wheels but the motors in them never seem to perform as well as regular spoked hubs. This Havoc climbs and accelerates very well but is going to have poor top speed for a bike that is marketed to performance enthusiasts. Dual motor Grizzly with 52v has better speed.

Being a prototype that is probably being used by a bunch of people both before and after you the bike has probably been beat up. Not saying UPS and FEDEX are gentle but they may not be the only one who have damaged it. Like say someone who doesn't know to start with the rear motor then start the front motor to prevent wheel spin. Just saying.

I LOVE the power of this bike, but don't want to keep tearing up my front tire. QUESTION: I'm a newbie to e-bikes, but am a motorcycle rider for over 50 years. Here's the question: Can't I "start out" in rear wheel drive only, and once I get some speed going, why can't I just hit the "red button" and engage the front tire (2 wheel drive) on the move? Or perhaps I can already do that with this bike and NO ONE is showing us that we can do that. If we can already do this with this Havoc X2, you need to get someone out there ( Citizen Cycle ) to show us. There are ALOT of KZbinrs who show all these All Wheel Drive bikes tearing up the front tires. It's stupid. We want the power, but don't want to keep tearing up our bikes. Seems like a "simple" fix to me. If that feature is already on this bike, could you please show us that it has that feature to "shift on the fly"... Thank youi....

Perhaps on your "further reviews" on this bike, you could "show" us how to start in rear wheel, and shift on the fly to see how much more "jump" you get once you push the button and engage the front wheel after you're already moving. Just sayin...... Thank you again for such a timely response and all you do!
