There is nothing better for wound healing than medical cotton along with Neosporin cream applied on it. Use Kinesiology tape to get it sticked properly. That's a rubber tape. If it doesn't hold enough You can use a 6 inch gauze tape to hold it horizontally. To put Gauze directly on a wound is a crime against humanity and will cause terrible pain. Cotton is the best dressing material! ❤❤

My son (age 19 with Hirschsprungs and Down Syndrome) had a laparoscopic appendicostomy on 4/4/24. On 4/16 the largest incision directly below the tube dehisced. It is deep but not into the abdominal wall. After being seen in ER we were sent home to do wet to dry dressing changes with gauze and saline after very little instruction...no written instructions even after I asked (although they did give me an information sheet on Hirschsprungs) I had to explain an Appendicostomy to the ER doctor who wasn't familiar with the procedure. We were seen a few days later by our Colorectal team (which now includes a wound care nurse) and switched to biatain non adhesive foam covered with Hypafix. At the next visit a few days later they said it was too wet and went back to wet to dry gauze, this time moistened with Anasep instead of saline. We're still doing that with 2 (or more) dressing changes daily. Meanwhile on 4/26 a smaller incision dehisced and we're now using Calcicare Calcium Alginate Silver Dressing covered with DuoDerm Extra Thin CCF Dressing. That I change daily. I have no medical background and I'm now doing twice daily dressing changes along with the daily flush (which we haven't perfected so we have frequent bowel accidents). And the largest wound is still being treated with gauze after a month. They're going to do a contrast enema through the Foley catheter next week to see if there is leakage somewhere. The largest wound does appear less deep but last week after cleaning out a large amount of pus near the tube i pulled out 4 sutures. I asked about a strange looking lump in the wound on our last visit and the wound care nurse said it could be abscessed sutures and I may find more sutures. Should I be concerned that we're still using gauze a month into this???

Wow, you’ve had an entire course in just a few weeks with your son. It sounds like you’re on the right track and we just have to keep going back to local factors when a wound is not healing, so you’re asking the right question…is there infection and inflammation from a leak around the appendicostomy. Keep in close touch with your wound care and colorectal team. Thanks for sharing and engaging!

What would be a good dressing for cellulitis with some seepage

First, it’s important to get the cellulitis under control! Make sure a healthcare professional is able to evaluate it and decide if it’s inflammation or infection. Dressings good for seepage are the foam dressings and others that are highly absorbent.

Dr.,VAC therapy confines to good vascularity in wound. What if a patient don't that in deep wound pressure ulcer? For to give moist to the wound we are being guided to damp gauze in Eusol & fill them in wound with a good tape packing on top of it. What about this method?
